Chinese smartphones major Nubia has launched its new flagship grade gaming-centric smartphone called the Nubia Red Magic 3 in China. This new device is a successor to the Red Magic Mars that was released back in December 2018. The Red Magic 3 features an interesting liquid cooling mechanism and also comes with an internal cooling fan – probably a first among mainstream smartphones. The handset also boasts of several gaming-centric features that we shall talk about in detail. Anyway, let us first talk about the all-important specifications of the Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming phone. Nubia has also confirmed that the Magic 3 will also be launched in India soon.

Nubia Red Magic 3: Specifications, features

As mentioned in the introductory paragraph, the Nubia Red Magic 3 is a flagship-class handset that uses the Snapdragon 855 SoC from Qualcomm which as you might be already aware is the fastest chipset available for Android smartphones. This chipset houses the Adreno 640 GPU for graphics. The Nubia Red Magic 3 will be offered in three RAM and storage versions starting with a base 6GB+128GB version, a mid-level 8GB+128GB variant, and a top-of-the-line 12GB+256GB version. The handset gets a massive 5,000 mAh battery and supports 30W quick charging as well. The company claims that the phone can play a game for one hour with a quick 10-minute charge. The Nubia Red Magic 3 comes with a large 6.65-inch ultra-widescreen FHD+ HDR AMOLED display. As expected of a gaming-centric handset, the display boasts of a 90 Hz refresh rate. The handset also comes with dual front-facing stereo speakers.

The highlight of the Nubia Red Magic 3 is its liquid cooling system which the company says is inspired by gaming PCs. This phone is touted as the world’s first smartphone with an active cooling system that also integrates a fan. This system, according to Nubia increases the effective heat transfer capability of the device by a significant margin and as a result, claims to improve the overall performance of the device

The camera setup on the Nubia Red Magic 3 consists of a .single 48-megapixel camera at the rear that uses the Sony IMX586 sensor and a basic8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

Nubia Red Magic 3: Other features, software

The Nubia Red Magic also comes with several software optimizations to enhance the overall gaming experience. This includes the Red Magic Game Space 2.0 which is a gaming-focused dashboard. This software also allows users to organize and quick-launch games, fine-tune performance settings and fan speeds. Users will also be able to monitor temperature and usage stats in real time. The phone also has a mode where you can block notifications of all sorts during gameplay. The handset also comes with touch-sensitive shoulder triggers that eliminate the need for an additional gameplay accessory. As expected, these buttons are custom-mappable. The handset also gets an RGB lighting suite. The Nubia Red Magic 3 runs a stock version of Android and is free of unnecessary bloatware as well.

Nubia Red Magic 3: Pricing and Availability

The Nubia Red Magic 3 is slated to go on sale in China starting May 3, 2019. The pricing of the three versions is listed below.

  • 6GB+128GB : 3199 RMB
  • 8GB+ 128GB: 3499 RMB
  • 12GB+ 256GB : 4299 RMB

Nubia has also confirmed that the Red Magic 3 will eventually make it to India. The company, however, is yet to comment on a time-frame.
