Back in April this year, ZTE sub-brand Nubia made its foray into the gaming smartphone segment with the Red Magic. The company’s first gaming smartphone is finally all set to be launched in India. Nubia is holding a launch event in the country on December 20, i.e. this Thursday. It should be noted, however, that Nubia is only bringing the Red Magic and not the newer Red Magic Mars to India. Depending on the kind of response the Red Magic receives in the Indian market, the company may launch the newer and more impressive Red Magic Mars to the country sometime early next year.
Nubia Red Magic Key Features
The Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone features a 5.99-inch 6.0-inch IPS display with 1080 x 2160 pixels Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of design, the key highlight of the handset is the RGB light strip on the back. Under the hood, Nubia Red Magic runs on the now outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone also comes in a more affordable variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Nubia claims the Red Magic utilizes an air convection cooling system, which allows the Snapdragon 835 chipset to deliver peak performance even during extended gameplay sessions. The smartphone also offers DTS HD Sound technology and a Smart Amplifier for an impressive audio experience.
Moving on to the camera hardware, Nubia Red Magic sports a 24MP main camera at the rear and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. The 24MP rear camera is coupled with an f/1.7 aperture lens and is capable of shooting 4K Ultra HD videos at up to 30fps. Connectivity features supported by the gaming smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. Placed right above the RGB light bar on the back of the handset is a fingerprint sensor. Keeping the lights on is a 3800mAh capacity non-removable battery with fast charging support. In terms of software, the gaming-centric handset runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a customized user-interface running on top. While the pricing is yet to be confirmed, it is rumored that the Nubia Red Magic will be priced under INR 30,000.
