Nubia recently launched the world’s first gaming smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset. The company unveiled RedMagic 8S Pro and 8S Pro+ smartphones in China with Qualcomm’s latest chipset. The 8S Pro+ smartphone is the world’s first to feature 24GB of physical RAM. Both smartphones are the successor to the vanilla RedMagic 8 Pro smartphone launched in early 2023 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Nubia has announced the global launch of the newly launched 8S Pro smartphone. The company has also teased the device’s key specifications, which gives us an outlook of the forthcoming device.
Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro Global Launch Date
The company’s global website reveals that it will launch the RedMagic 8S Pro smartphone on July 18. The company offers a USD 15 coupon for users subscribing to the upcoming global launch event. Nubia is expected to announce the pricing and availability of the smartphone in the upcoming event.
The teaser images on the website indicate that the global and Chinese units would be similar. The image reveals that the upcoming device has a sleek and futuristic design. The image also confirms that it boasts a leading version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is overclocked for a boost of speed. The company also confirms that the device gets an ICE 12.0 Cooling System where thermal control is re-engineered.
Nubia will likely price the smartphone under USD 700 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Nubia had priced the same variant at CNY 3,999 (approx. Rs 45,750). The company kept the 12GB + 512GB variant pricing at CNY 5,499 (approx. Rs 53,000). Nubia has equipped the 8S Pro smartphone with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 1,116 x 2,480 pixels resolution.
The display supports 1440Hz PWM high-frequency dimming, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 960Hz, and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro features a seventh-generation ultra-thin fingerprint scanner. Underneath, it is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC. The new chipset has a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz.
Nubia has also equipped the device with a Red Core 2 chip to enhance gaming performance. The chipset pairs with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The device runs on RedMagic OS 8.0 based on Android 13 out of the box. In terms of optics, the smartphone is equipped with a triple rear camera setup. The setup comprises a primary 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
The company equips the smartphone with an under-display camera. Nubia has equipped a 16MP selfie camera beneath the display. The smartphone is backed by a 6000 mAh battery which supports 80W fast charging tech. Nubia has included support for a 3.5mm headphone jack with the smartphone.
