The Samsung Galaxy S21 series may be getting the Android 12 update soon. According to a report by Sam Mobile, one of Samsung’s community managers has posted a banner that states that OneUI 4.0 beta is coming to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra soon. This is the version of Samsung’s custom interface that is based on Google’s Android 12 platform. But beta programs will run for at least a few weeks, so don’t be surprised if it takes a month or more for the update to arrive on your phone.

That said, it does seem like the South Korean company will beat most others in delivering the Android 12 update to its flagship devices. Android 12 became publicly available earlier this year, and Google officially announced the operating system in May this year, during the yearly Google I/O developer conference. Samsung had released OneUI 3.0, which was based on Android 11, in late September last year. Which means that the company is running a couple of months ahead of schedule.

Samsung is also preparing to launch the next version of its Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphones, which means that getting ready with Android 12 will make sense for the company. The two smartphones are foldable devices, representing the very best that Samsung can offer, and having the newest version of the operating system should be a prerequisite for such devices.

This is also good news for other Samsung users, since OneUI 4.0 will come to other devices in the company’s portfolio as well. Of course, the operating system won’t have the same features on all devices, but some of the main ones should be available across devices. Here’s a full list of devices that will get Android 12 via OneUI 4.0, as listed by SamMobile:
