OnePlus typically launches its flagship smartphones in the month of March or April every year and the company follows up the launch with a T series device towards the end of the year. However, the company has changed its strategy in the past few months. First, the company skipped the OnePlus 9RT global launch in 2020 and now, the company has announced the OnePlus 10 Pro today in China.
Unlike the past couple of years, the company has announced only the Pro version of the flagship phone and skipped the launch of the OnePlus 10 for now. The OnePlus 10 Pro was launched in China today featuring the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 80W fast charging, LTPO 2.0 display, and a triple rear camera setup. There were not many surprises at the event as the company had already confirmed many features and specifications of the device.
OnePlus 10 Pro Price and Availability
The OnePlus 10 Pro comes in three configurations: 8GB+128GB, which is priced at CNY 4,699 (around Rs 54,500), 8GB+256GB priced at CNY 4,999 (around Rs 58,000) and the the 12GB+256GB variant priced at CNY5,299 (around Rs 61,500). The device will be available in two colour options: Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest (Green). In China, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be up for pre-order starting today.
OnePlus 10 Pro Specifications and Features
Starting off with the visual department, the OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and 1440 x 3612 screen resolution. The phone uses second-gen LTPO calibration, which can reduce the refresh as low as 1Hz. The phone can go from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the type of content being viewed. It also supports Always-on-Display. On the inside, the 10 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In terms of optics, OnePlus is collaborating with Hasselblad for the second year. You are looking at a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor (Sony IMX 789), a 50MP ultra-wide secondary lens with 150-degree FoV, and an 8MP telephoto snapper. The cameras also pack in dual optical image stabilization (OIS). Selfies are handled by a 32MP camera on the front. The camera supports 12-bit RAW, HDR, Movie mode, RAW Pro mode, and OnePlus Billion colours feature.
Further, the flagship phone packs in a huge 5,000mAh battery, which is backed by an 80W SuperVOOC fast charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. The phone also supports reverse wireless charging. The 80W wired charging takes about 32 minutes to fully charge the device.
On the software side, the device runs ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 in China, however, the device is confirmed to run on OxygenOS 12 outside China. Other features include a dual stereo speaker setup, alert slider, X-axis linear motor, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, O-haptics, HyperBoost mode, VoLTE, and VoWiFi.
