OnePlus 12 To Feature Sony LYTIA Dual-Layer Stacked CMOS Sensor

OnePlus has confirmed in a Weibo post that it has partnered with Sony’s LYTIA to develop a “high-end” sensor for the OnePlus 12. The company said in the post that this “opens up a new feature for mobile imaging” (translated from Chinese). The OnePlus 12 will be the first smartphone to sport Sony’s new generation of camera sensors, the Japanese company said in a separate Weibo post.

In addition, OnePlus President Lei Jie Louis shared camera samples taken using the upcoming OnePlus 12. He posted three photos of a coffee shop, that looks rather vibrant with its walls painted bright red. The last two photos were zoomed in, suggesting OnePlus 12 can take photos with great details even with the zoom functionality.

OnePlus 12’s camera specifications have leaked in the past and the smartphone is said to feature triple cameras at the back. The primary sensor could be a 50MP Sony IMX966 sensor, with an aperture of f/1.7 and 23mm focal length. It will also have OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) support. It is expected to be accompanied by a 48MP wide-angle lens, with an aperture of f/2.2 and a focal length of 14mm. The third rear camera on the OnePlus 12 is speculated to be a 64MP periscope lens with the Omnivision OV64B sensor with OIS and a lens aperture of f/2.5 with 70mm focal length.

OnePlus 12 Processor, Display Details Confirmed

The OnePlus 12 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which was launched at the Snapdragon Tech Summit last month. It supports generative AI and is 30 percent faster than its predecessor.

Further, in terms of display, the OnePlus 12 will feature a 2K X1 OLED display with 2600nits of brightness and this was confirmed by the company.
