OnePlus is currently gearing up for the launch of its second flagship smartphone of the year, OnePlus 6T. The flagship smartphone will be unveiled at a global event in New York City on October 29th. Ahead of the big launch event, YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss received a chance to visit the OnePlus headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where he managed to get his hands on the OnePlus 6T. Along with the OnePlus 6T, Mrwhosetheboss was also shown a few OnePlus 6 prototypes in various gradient color shades that did not see the light of day.
OnePlus 6 Prototypes in Gradient Colors Spotted at Company HQ in China
While the OnePlus 6 (review) has not been launched in any Gradient color yet, the prototypes shown in the video clearly suggest the company was planning to offer the smartphone in multiple gradient color options. Some of the gradient colors shown in the video include Dark Black/Purple Twilight, Silver/Red, and Sunset Gradient. As you can see in the video below, they all look stunning and could have made the OnePlus 6 an even more attractive smartphone if the company had decided to offer them to the public. Sadly, however, it looks like the upcoming OnePlus 6T will not be available in gradient colors either.
According to the latest leaks, the OnePlus 6T will be available in Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Purple colors at launch. However, there is certainly a chance that OnePlus may introduce a few gradient color options for the OnePlus 6T a few months down the line. While Huawei was the first Android OEM to popularize gradient color options with its flagship models earlier this year, quite a few other OEMs have also come out with gradient color options for their latest smartphones in the more recent past. Samsung too is offering gradient color options with its new camera-centric Galaxy A9 (2018).
OnePlus 6T Early Look
As mentioned earlier, the main highlight of the video is the OnePlus 6T. While the actual device is not shown, Mrwhosetheboss asked a few questions regarding the upcoming device to Sohaib Ahmed, the head of European Communications at OnePlus. Sohaib revealed that the company has developed the OnePlus 6T to be intuitive, even faster than its predecessor, and as stress-free as possible. He also told the YouTuber that launching two flagship smartphones in a year helps the company as technology is currently moving at a very rapid pace. Newer components are being released constantly, while existing ones become more affordable.
The short interview also confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with a tweaked version of Android 9.0 Pie-based OxygenOS with some new features. Similar to other recent flagship Android smartphones, the OnePlus 6T is expected to offer an AI-powered camera with intelligent scene detection, helping users capture great photos without having to fiddle with settings. It will also come with a few tweaks aimed at improving the gaming experience on the device. The Screen Unlock feature, which will be a headline feature of the next OnePlus flagship, has also been tuned to be the best in the industry.
The OnePlus 6T is expected to sport a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, 16MP + 20MP dual rear cameras, 20MP front-facing camera, and a 3700mAh capacity battery with Dash Charge support.
