Earlier this week, a few press renders of the upcoming OnePlus 6T had been leaked online, confirming the smartphone’s key design features that were revealed previously. As shown by the exclusive 5K renders that we brought to you last month, the next OnePlus flagship smartphone will have a teardrop notch at the top and a vertically-stacked dual-camera setup at the rear. These details have now been confirmed once again, courtesy of new case renders that have been posted on the Olixar website.
OnePlus 6T Case Renders Show Waterdrop Notch, ‘Never Settle’ Wallpapers
Ahead of the smartphone’s launch scheduled for later this month, popular case manufacturer Olixar has updated its website with five new cases designed for the OnePlus 6T. All the five cases are now available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website, which means you can expect to have the case for your OnePlus 6T delivered to you before you actually get your hands on the smartphone. Case options include FlexiShield OnePlus 6T Gel case, Ultra-Thin OnePlus 6T Gel case, ArmourDillo OnePlus 6T protective case, Sentinel OnePlus 6T case and glass screen protector, and Farley RFID Blocking OnePlus 6T Executive Wallet case.
The case renders show the upcoming flagship smartphone with a teardrop notch at the top, similar to OPPO’s R17 Pro. Thanks to the teardrop notch, we expect the OnePlus 6T to feature a higher screen-to-body ratio than the current OnePlus 6T. While the current OnePlus 6 has a screen-to-body ratio of 84%, we expect the OnePlus 6T to have a screen-to-body ratio of around 90%.
As you can tell from the case renders above, the Olixar OnePlus 6T cases do not have a cutout for a fingerprint sensor at the rear. As confirmed by the manufacturer already, OnePlus 6T will be its first smartphone to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Apart from the omission of the fingerprint sensor, however, the dual-camera setup on the back of the OnePlus 6T is very similar to the one on the OnePlus 6. The case renders also show us the new ‘Never Settle’ wallpapers that the OnePlus 6T will ship with. What these renders do not show us is that the OnePlus 6T does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. According to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, the 3.5mm headphone jack had to be axed in order to make room for the in-display fingerprint sensor module.
OnePlus 6T Expected to Launch on October 17, Will Cost More Than the OnePlus 6
The OnePlus 6T is expected to be launched in India on the 17th of this month. While OnePlus is yet to confirm the smartphone’s launch date, we are expecting the company to hold the global launch event a day earlier. In terms of pricing, the company’s CEO recently confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will be priced higher than its predecessor, thanks mainly to the in-display fingerprint sensor. Rumors suggest the smartphone will feature a bigger 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, an upgraded front-facing camera, as well as a higher capacity battery. On the software front, the OnePlus 6T is expected to ship with the Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box.
