OnePlus is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated OnePlus 6T on October 17, 2018. The upcoming smartphone has been the topic of discussion for quite a while now. We have come across press renders, leaked images, official teasers, revealing the hardware specifications and other major details of the device. In yet another teasing post from the OnePlus CEO, a new Lava Red colour-based Porsche Edition of the smartphone is hinted.

OnePlus 6T Porsche Edition in Works?

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted images of Porsche 911 GT3 RS – ONEPLUS EDITION on his official Weibo Handle. It is based on the Lava Red version of the OnePlus 6. He didn’t mention anything significant but a simple caption that says ‘Cool’. Now, this is not concrete enough to tell if a special Porsche Edition of the upcoming OnePlus 6T is in works, but the timing of the post is quite suggestive. To recall, OnePlus 6T is coming out on October 17, and we are hoping to get a few elements of surprise at the launch event.

The smartphone industry has been picking up the Cross-Border Collaboration trend lately. Brands like Oppo and Huawei have done this with automobiles companies to launch Oppo Find X Lamborghini edition and Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Edition respectively.

OnePlus Special Edition Devices

OnePlus has also released Special Edition devices like the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition, and the recently-released OnePlus 6 Avengers Infinity War Edition. We are hoping to see a Special Porsche Edition of the upcoming OnePlus 6T. The smartphone has already been hyped before, and the announcement of a new Special Edition will add more excitement to the launch.

OnePlus 6T is expected to come with a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is also expected to feature a  new teardrop notch. Under the hood, the OnePlus 6T will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC, which has been recently been confirmed by the company. The OnePlus 6T is rumoured to pack a 3,700 mAh battery. The smartphone is expected to be launched in two storage configurations – one with 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage and the other with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. If the Special Porsche Edition does make it to the reality, we expect the device to feature 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage.

The company recently released a video featuring the in-display fingerprint sensor for Screen Unlocking. Sharing the story behind the Screen Unlock, CEO Pete Lau said:

“Screen Unlock is much more than a module attached to the back of the screen, it encompasses a wide array of software processes and hardware components that were carefully tuned to work perfectly with the OnePlus 6T. It all starts with a new optical fingerprint module, which houses a small lens that can accurately register your fingerprint as it presses down on the cover glass.”

OnePlus 6T sure packs some interesting features along with impressive hardware. we have no information on the pricing of the device. Let’s wait for the official event on October 17 to find out all about the smartphone.
