The OnePlus 6 (Review) has been a huge success in the Indian market, allowing OnePlus to topple Samsung from the No.1 position in the premium phone segment temporarily. The company is now all set to unveil its second flagship smartphone of the year, which will be marketed as the OnePlus 6T. OnePlus has finally ended all speculation regarding the smartphone’s launch date by confirming that it will be holding a global launch event on October 30 in New York City. Previously, it was speculated that the OnePlus 6T could be launched on October 17.
OnePlus 6T Rumored Specifications, Features
Based on all the recent leaks, the OnePlus 6T will be very similar to the OPPO R17 Pro in terms of design. It will feature a waterdrop-style notch at the top, allowing for an improved screen-to-body ratio compared to the current OnePlus 6. Just like the R17 Pro, the upcoming OnePlus flagship is expected to sport a 6.4-inch sized AMOLED display with Full HD+ 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and an ultra-tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Optic AMOLED display panel will be protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6. In terms of physical size, the handset will measure 157.5 x 75.7 x 8.2mm.
When it comes to hardware specifications, the OnePlus 6T will not be very different from its predecessor. It will be running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood, the same chipset that powers the OnePlus 6 and most 2018 flagship Android handsets. In the memory department, we expect the OnePlus 6T to be available in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. In terms of optics, the OnePlus 6T is likely to sport a 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 25MP selfie camera on the front. The headline feature of the OnePlus 6T will be the in-display fingerprint sensor. Apart from the in-display fingerprint sensor, the smartphone will also offer improved battery life, thanks to a larger 3700mAh battery under the hood. However, some fans may be disappointed by the OnePlus 6T as it has been confirmed to not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, OnePlus 6T is likely to ship with Google’s latest Android 9 Pie mobile operating system out of the box.
OnePlus 6T Launch Date, Offers
Unlike last year, OnePlus will not be holding a separate launch event for the Indian market. Instead, it will be unveiling the OnePlus 6T in India at a simultaneous event in New Delhi. The simultaneous launch events will begin at 8:30 PM IST on October 30. OnePlus fans will be able to purchase entry tickets to the event for Rs.999 starting at 10 AM on October 17 from the OnePlus website. Consumers in select markets, including India, will be able to pre-order the smartphone starting midnight on the same date. As revealed by a listing on Amazon India earlier this week, those who pre-order the OnePlus 6T in India will get the OnePlus USB Type-C Bullets for free along with Rs.500 as Amazon Pay balance. The sale date, however, has not been confirmed just yet.
