OnePlus had launched the 6T in India at an event held in New Delhi on October 30, just a day after its global launch event in New York City. Currently, the OnePlus 6T is available only in Midnight Black and Mirror Black colors in the country. However, the company will soon launch a third color option for the 6T in India. OnePlus recently teased the launch of the Thunder Purple color option on its social media pages, suggesting that the new color variant may become available for purchase in India very soon.
OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple Version to Launch in India Soon
The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple was first spotted on the OnePlus India support page by leakster Ishan Agarwal. It was formally launched in China earlier this month. Last week, OnePlus officials clarified that the Thunder Purple color variant will only be sold in China. Surprisingly, however, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant is now expected to be launched in India soon. The teaser released by OnePlus India says the new color variant offers “elegance infused with the brilliance of thunderstorms”. Since it is a gradient color option, the color changes between purple, pink, and violet depending on the angle of light reflecting off the surface.

OnePlus has not revealed any information regarding the availability of the Thunder Purple color variant in India so far. However, we do expect these details to be confirmed within the next few days. As for pricing, the Thunder Purple color variant is expected to be identically-priced to the Mirror Black and Midnight Black color variants. In India, the OnePlus 6T starts at INR 37,999 for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the smartphone is priced at INR 41,999, while the top-end 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant costs INR 45,999.
OnePlus 6T Top New Features
The OnePlus 6T is the company’s first smartphone to come with “Screen Unlock” technology. According to OnePlus, the optical In-display fingerprint sensor in the 6T offers the fastest recognition time in the industry. To unlock the phone, all you need to do is hold your finger over the virtual thumbprint displayed in the middle of the lower half of the display. While the In-display fingerprint sensor isn’t as fast as the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the OnePlus 6, it is certainly faster and more accurate than most other smartphones with an In-display fingerprint sensor.
OnePlus 6T also comes with a large 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The latest OnePlus flagship smartphone has an 86% screen-to-body ratio, a decent improvement compared to its predecessor. Protecting the display panel is a layer of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
When it comes to imaging, the OnePlus 6T is not very different from the OnePlus 6. However, it comes with a few new features that make it a better performer. The most impressive new feature is the Nightscape mode, which helps deliver impressive low-light photography. OnePlus 6T also comes with intelligent scene recognition, which detects objects in the frame and automatically adjusts settings to deliver an impressive result. For stunning portrait shots, the latest OnePlus flagship comes with the Studio Lighting feature. OnePlus says the feature uses advanced face detection and superior edge detection to dynamically tone shadows and highlights on the subject’s face.
