OnePlus 6T Update in the US Fine Tunes Nightscape Mode, Improves In-display Fingerprint Reader

The T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T has received its first OxygenOS software update bringing improvements to Night Scape and the fingerprint scanner.

The OnePlus 6T is the first smartphone from the company to be sold by an US network. If you are in the US, you can now buy the OnePlus 6T from T-Mobile, either on contract or unlocked. Prior to partnering with T-Mobile, OnePlus used to sell its devices only via its official online store. This made the phone very limited, as customers in the US usually purchase phones on a contract basis. Now, the OnePlus 6T T-Mobile variant is receiving its very first software update.

OnePlus 6T T-Mobile Get Software Update

According to users who own the T-Mobile version of the OnePlus 6T, a new software update is being seeded to the phone. The OnePlus 6T runs OxygenOS 9, which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie software. The new update brings a couple of improvements to the camera and the in-display fingerprint sensor. It also installs the latest November Android Security patch.

OnePlus has added a couple of improvements in the update. Firstly, the NightScape mode for low-light photography has been improved. Next, the in-display fingerprint scanner has also received some algorithm updates to make it faster. Apart from these, the Unlock app and the navigation Gestures 2.0 have been updated. Things should be more smoother after installing the new update.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the software update carries the version number A6013_34_181029. The update weighs in at just 132MB and is available over-the-air. If you are rocking the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T, then you should be receiving the update soon, in case you haven’t already. You can also manually check for the update by launching the Settings app and navigating to System> System Update > Check for Update. It could take a couple of days for the update to show up for all users, so do not worry if you haven’t received the notification yet.

OnePlus has already seeded two software updates for the unlocked variant of the OnePlus 6T. The T-Mobile variant just got its first update because the carrier has to certify the update before OnePlus can start rolling them out. The OnePlus 6T is an incredible smartphone and has received great reviews from everyone. Most recently, the company released a Thunder Purple variant of the smartphone, which features a striking new color.
