The OnePlus 6T is going to be announced on October 17, and it will have some upgraded features and improvements over the OnePlus 6. The phone will come with a larger display, smaller notch, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and upgraded cameras. Also, the phone will no longer have a headphone jack. In this post, we are going to look at all the differences between the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6. Unfortunately, almost all the details on the device has been leaked. Furthermore, company had gone ahead and has provided with a teaser/confirmed some of the upcoming features of the phone.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Design, Display

For the most part, the OnePlus 6T will look similar to the OnePlus 6. However, there will be some changes that you will be able to notice. The OnePlus 6T will have a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a smaller waterdrop notch. The design will be similar to the OnePlus 6, expect there is no fingerprint sensor at the back now. The fingerprint scanner is now placed under the display.

The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28-inch Full HD+ AMOLED, with a bigger notch. The fingerprint scanner is placed at the back, below the camera module. Both phones use a glass and aluminium build.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Hardware, Performance

In terms of hardware and performance, there should be no difference between the two devices. Both the OnePlus 6T and the OnePlus 6 are powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The OnePlus 6T might come with a higher storage option of 512GB, but that’s not confirmed. OnePlus has also opted to get rid of the headphone jack on the OnePlus 6T.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Camera

Camera wise, we expect the OnePlus 6T to be better than the OnePlus 6. The new phone will also come with a dual-camera setup at the back, but it could include a dual-aperture sensor. There haven’t been any rumors regarding the camera specifications of the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 6 comes with a dual-rear camera setup, with a 16MP+20MP combination of sensors. The primary sensor features Optical Image Stabilization as well. It has a 16MP camera at the front, for selfies.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Software

We expect OnePlus to launch the OnePlus 6T with Android 9.0 Pie, the latest OS from Google. The OnePlus 6 has already received the update to Android 9.0, so it makes sense for the company to launch the newer device with the latest software.

The software will obviously come with the OxygenOS skin on top, which is probably the best custom Android UI out there. You’ll get plenty of customizations, and hopefully, some new AI features.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Battery, Connectivity

The OnePlus 6 came with a 3300mAh battery, which is similar to the one found on the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5. According to rumors and reports, the OnePlus 6T will come with a larger 3700mAh battery, which should extend the battery life. The phone will also come with fast charging, and maybe even wireless charging.

As for connectivity, the OnePlus 6T will have pretty much the same features as the OnePlus 6. Unfortunately, it will not feature the headphone jack.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Conclusion

In conclusion, the OnePlus 6T is a definite upgrade over the OnePlus 6, but it is not going to be a huge improvement. If you just purchased the OnePlus 6, there is no need to upgrade, unless you really want that in-display fingerprint scanner. The face unlock and the rear mounted fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 6 is pretty good. The cameras should be better, but it doesn’t warrant the need to upgrade so soon.
