It’s been just over four months since the launch of the OnePlus 6T which if you can recall, was introduced back in October 2018. Since OnePlus has been quite prolific with its launches of late, expectations are that the OnePlus 7 is already in an advanced stage of design/launch. At the recently concluded CES 2019, OnePlus also showcased a prototype of an upcoming 5G smartphone from them. When asked about the OnePlus 7, the company’s CEO Pete Lau confirmed that he indeed had a prototype of the OnePlus 7 in his pocket which he said he was not in a position to reveal. Pete’s efforts to keep the OnePlus 7 under wraps, however, seem to have come to naught after noted smartphone tipster @OnLeaks in collaboration with our friends at Pricebaba leaked a bunch of images that according to them, are of the soon-to-be-released OnePlus 7.
OnePlus 7 Renders
Without further delay, here is a look at the set of images that were leaked online.
As the norm is, OnLeaks has also included a 360-degree view of the handset. The video is embedded below as well.
OnePlus 7 Design
The key takeaway from these leaked images is that the design language of the OnePlus 7 more or less remains the same. The major changes, however, seems to be on the camera front with the OnePlus 7 likely to get a triple camera setup at the rear. The front facing camera also sees a major change with the OnePlus 7 getting a popup front camera. This also means that the phone does away with the dewdrop style notch that we saw on the OnePlus 6T. According to the leak, the OnePlus 7 will have a screen to body ratio of 95 percent. The panel itself will be an AMOLED display that measures 6.5-inches across. There is no word on the resolution but it can be safely assumed that the device will feature full HD+ resolution. The positions of the ports and the buttons on the OnePlus 7 are expected to remain identical to the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus 7 rumored specifications
While we have a good idea as to what the OnePlus 7 would look like, there is little information around the specifications it will sport. That being said, the phone will almost certainly feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The phone will not be a 5G device since we are still in the early stages of 5G deployment. The phone will come with at least 6GB of RAM on the base version and may also feature a 4000+mAh battery. The phone will also run Android 9 Pie at launch. One feature that OnePlus users were looking forward to on the OnePlus 7 is the wireless charging feature. Going by the current rumors, the OnePlus 7 is unlikely to get this feature in 2019.
OnePlus 7 price in India, availability
Going by OnePlus’ track record of launching two new devices every year, we can expect them to launch the OnePlus 7 sometime in June 2019. The phone should also make it to India soon after that. The OnePlus 7 is also likely to be priced at around the same levels as the existing OnePlus 6T models. There is, however, a chance that the brand may charge a slight premium for the pop-up camera mechanism. Nevertheless, we expect the OnePlus 7 to be priced under the INR 45,000 price tag at launch.
