OnePlus had unveiled its latest flagship offerings OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, back in April. OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro pack top-tier silicon under the hood which is equipped with X55 5G modem, and run Android 10 based Oxygen OS 10 out of the box. OnePlus 8 Series devices are part of the Android 11 beta program, and OnePlus has already made the Android 11 Beta 3 available for the devices. OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro started receiving Android 11 Beta 3 update last week bringing OxygenOS 11 design and features.
New features that OxygenOS 11 Beta 3 brings to devices
OxygenOS 11 Beta 3 update focuses on providing a more comfortable and convenient one-handed operation and also brings new visual design for Weather, Launcher, and Gallery apps. Apart from the above-mentioned changes, it also brings a much-awaited Always-on display function including 11 new clock styles for lock screen. OnePlus has also focused on readability and has introduced OnePlus Sand font which improves readability as per the company claims.
The new live wallpapers in OxygenOS 11 Beta 3 will also change according to the time of the day. OnePlus has optimized Dark mode with this update and users now have a shortcut in Quick Settings to turn on/off the dark mode, which was much needed. OnePlus is introducing 3 new Zen Mode themes with more timing options and a new group feature. The new Gallery function in OxygenOS 11 Beta 3 will automatically create a weekly story based on photos and videos.
OnePlus 8 Series devices get Dual 5G+5G support
OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro users were able to use the 5G network only on one SIM, and the other SIM was limited to 4G networks only, but it is changing with the latest update. Apart from the above-mentioned changes, OnePlus seems to have finally enabled Dual 5G+5G Support on OnePlus 8 Series devices with OxygenOS 11 Beta 3. As per a new report, users can now enjoy Dual 5G on their OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro devices and easily switch between either of the SIM cards for 5G connectivity, but due to unavailability of 5G carriers, Indian users will not get benefitted as of now.
Dual 5G support is limited to only OxygenOS 11 Beta 3 users for now, but we can expect a broader roll-out with OxygenOS 11 Open Beta in near future followed by a public roll out later this year with OxygenOS 11 stable update.
