OnePlus has started rolling out Android 11 update to its current flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 8 and OnPlus 8 Pro. The company has also confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 8T will ship with Android 11 operating. The update is about 2.8GHz in size and brings all the goodies of Android 11 along with some enhanced features. The update brings new UI visual design along with new weather UI. OnePlus says that it will roll out Android 11 update based on OxygenOS 11 to OnePlus 7T series, 7 series and more in the future. The official changelog reveals the update brings new weather UI that supports dynamic switches between sunrise and sunset. It also adds new UI visual design with various optimisations of details.

The update also adds new gaming toolbox for convenient switches of Fnatic mode. One can now choose three ways of notifications: text-only, heads up, and block for an immersive gaming experience. The update also brings quick reply feature in a small window for Instagram and WhatsApp. It also adds mis-touch prevention, which can be enabled from the top of the screen.


The OxygenOS 11 update brings new Always-on ambient display function and adds new Insight clock style. The new clock is jointly created with Parsons School of Design and changes according to the phone usage data. Apart from this, the company has added 10 new clock styles.

The Android 11 update brings shortcut key for Dark mode. The mode now supports automatically turn on the feature and one can also customize time range. In order to do that, one can go Settings > Display > Dark Mode > Turn on automatically > Automatically enable from sunset to sunrise/Custom time range. Coming to Zen mode, the update brings five new themes including ocean, space, grassland, and so on. One can also invite friends and enable Zen Mode with the new Group feature.

Coming to Gallery, the update brings Story function that creates videos with photos and videos weekly. The update also optimises loading speed and image preview is now faster. Lastly, the update brings an option to make the widget disappear on the desktop. One can long-press on desktop and then go to Widget > Settings > Select the widget. As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users first and then a broader rollout will begin.
