OnePlus 8 Pro to Go on Sale in India with Its Color Filter Camera Feature Disabled by Update

The Indian OnePlus 8 Pro units will apparently be free from the color filter mode.

Not too long ago, OnePlus unveiled its OnePlus 8 lineup of smartphones. While the OnePlus 8 smartphone has already started selling in India, the OnePlus 8 Pro is yet to go on its first sale in the country. Ahead of the first sale, we have received an interesting piece of intel surrounding the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone for India. As it turns out, the OnePlus 8 Pro could likely be coming into the hands of Indian users with a disabled color filter camera feature. To recall, the color filter sensor on the OnePlus 8 Pro devices lets you see through thin plastic and clothing items. While the company is moving back and forth when it comes to disabling/enabling the color filter camera mode globally, the Indian units are likely to come without the same. Take a look at the newest development that has taken place in the OnePlus 8 Pro camp.

OnePlus 8 Pro might come with a disabled color filter camera mode in India

The folks at XDA Developers have recently decompiled the OnePlus Camera app (v4.0.267) that comes with Oxygen OS 10.5.10. Within the source code, they found a property which disables the color filter camera mode on the OnePlus 8 Pro model numbers IN2020 and IN2021. For those unaware, these are the Indian and Chinese model numbers of the OnePlus 8 Pro device.

Due to the fact that the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone is not yet sold in India, we are not entirely sure as to whether or not the color filter mode will be disabled on the OnePlus 8 Pro Indian units out of the box, but we can expect that to be the case. Even if the same does not happen out of the box, we can expect OnePlus to roll out a future update wherein the feature will be disabled.

The OnePlus 8 Pro sports a 6.7-inch fluid AMOLED display with a single punch-hole cutour for the selfie snapper. The display of the device comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the OnePlus 8 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, which is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Coming to the cameras of the device, the OnePlus 8 Pro flaunts a quadruple rear camera setup, which includes a 48MP primary lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. At the front, the OnePlus 8 Pro makes room for a 16MP selfie snapper. As far as the battery of the device is concerned, the OnePlus 8 Pro sports a 4,510mAh battery, which has support for 30W wireless and 30W wired fast charging. On the software side of things, the OnePlus 8 Pro boots the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s in-house Oxygen OS skin baked on top of it.
