The OnePlus 9 Pro white colour variant is slated to launch soon, according to reports. The information comes after OnePlus’ COO, Liu Fengshuo, seemingly took to Chinese social platform Weibo and posted a live image of a white OnePlus 9 Pro, thereby suggesting that the device is now close to being launched. However, at the moment, it remains unclear if the white OnePlus 9 Pro may remain restricted to the China market, or might be introduced globally.

The white OnePlus 9 Pro has been rumoured for a while, and is expected to soon join the three colour variants that it was launched in — Stellar Black, Forest Green and Morning Mist. Based on the live image of the white variant, the device appears to feature a matte rear panel — something that may aid the grip on the device and also reduce the propensity for collecting smudges and fingerprints. However, at the moment, it isn’t clear if the OnePlus 9 Pro white edition may be launched just in China, or globally. It may also be introduced as a limited edition device, similar to what the company had done with its OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition smartphone.

This year, though, the rumour mill suggests that there may be no ‘T’ cycle for the OnePlus 9 series, meaning that no OnePlus 9T may be introduced at any stage. This would essentially mean that OnePlus will need to keep its three-member OnePlus 9 series of smartphone refreshed and interesting, until its potential successor (OnePlus 10?) comes along. Launching a new colour variant or two, along with a few price cuts down the line, might be some of the ways to do that, and hence, the introduction of the white OnePlus 9 Pro variant may be a global affair for all markets.

The OnePlus 9 Pro features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED dual-curved display with 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging, and a quad rear camera featuring 48MP primary, 50MP ultra-wide, 8MP telephoto and 2MP monochrome units, along with custom camera algorithms tweaked and balanced by Hasselblad. These specs are further combined with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship SoC, and up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Such specifications mean that the OnePlus 9 Pro should remain good enough until the next year comes along, and new colour variants may keep it in users’ line of sight as well.
