OnePlus 9 Series Won’t Get a DxoMark Camera Rating, And It Has Something To Do With Oppo

OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 9 series in India on March 23. Ahead of the launch, the company has teased some of the key OnePlus 9 series specifications and features. The OnePlus 9 series is confirmed to come with a Sony IMX789 and Sony IMX766 sensor. OnePlus has now announced that it will not send the upcoming 9 series to DxO Mark for testing and rating the cameras. This comes after OPPO VP Brian Shen criticised DxO Mark for their words on the Find X3 Pro’s ultrawide camera. Both, the 9 series and the OPPO Find X3 Pro use the same IMX766 ultrawide sensor.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirms that company would not send the OnePlus 9 series for DxO Mark testing

OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 9 series on March 23. Ahead of the launch, the company’s CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the flagship OnePlus smartphones will not be sent to DxO Mark for testing.

Lau confirmed the news on Weibo, simply stating that the company will not send the 9 series for DxO Mark testing. This comes after OPPO VP Brian Shen criticised the website for stating that the OPPO Find X3 Pro does not feature a free-form lens. For the uninitiated, the OnePlus 9 series is confirmed to feature a Sony IMX766 ultrawide sensor, which is found on the OPPO Find X3 series too.

The 9 series camera is being co-developed with Hasselblad. It will come with a Hasselblad Pro Mode. The new mode will come with a new user interface based on Hasselblad’s image processing software. It gives users the control to fine-tune their photos, with the ability to adjust ISO, focus, exposure times, white balance and more.

OnePlus 9 Pro specifications

The OnePlus 9 Pro camera specifications have already leaked. The quad-camera array will come with a 48MP Sony IMX789 main sensor and a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultrawide lens. As per leaked information, the other two lenses will be an 8MP telephoto lens with a 3.3x optical zoom and a 2MP depth sensor.

We can expect the phone to get powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. It will come with a 4,500 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. The OnePlus smartphone series will come with a charger in the box.
