According to the News18 report, they have spoken to Pete Lau, Founder, CEO and Chief Product Officer at OnePlus, regarding the OnePlus 9 series, the OnePlus 9R, and the 2021 road map as well. As per Lau, the upcoming OnePlus 9R is going to be the most affordable phone among the OnePlus 9 series, which is capable of delivering a flagship experience.
OnePlus 9R India Launch Date
While replying to the questions about the OnePlus 9R to News18, Lau did confirm the launch details of the smartphone. He stated that the handset will go live alongside the launch of the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones.
“Along with the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, we are excited to launch the OnePlus 9R in India. We are focused on expanding our smartphone offering to cater to different user requirements with the OnePlus 9R by providing a robust flagship experience at a more accessible price point,” Lau told News18.
OnePlus 9R Hardware Specifications, Features
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 9R is said to be a premium-tire smartphone at an affordable price point. It is said to ship with the latest technologies like “smooth scrolling, immersive gaming controls and a superior viewing experience”. Under the hood, the handset is said to launch with a powerful Qualcomm processor with 5G connectivity support. The chipset is capable of bringing more value to users with better gaming performance. According to Lau, 5G connectivity support will improve the gameplay performance by improving speed, latency, and increased capacity will facilitate cloud gaming. Besides the features like camera configuration, display size, battery capacity, storage configurations are still unknown.
“While I cannot reveal specific details at this point, I will definitely say that 2021 is an important year for us with a lot of developments in the pipeline. We are very focused on our new long-term partnership with Hasselblad and continuing to improve the OnePlus camera experience for our users over the next few years,” News18 quoted Lau as saying.
OnePlus 9R Expected Price
Pete Lau, Founder, CEO and Chief Product Officer at OnePlus didn’t take the wraps off from the pricing of the upcoming OnePlus 9R smartphone. Here he chooses not to reveal the details so early but he believes that India is a nuanced market and Indian consumers have an understanding of the technology and their expectation from a product. Last year OnePlus launched its affordable smartphone the OnePlus Nord at a starting price point of Rs 27,000.
So we can safely assume that the company might launch the OnePlus 9R around the same price segment. However, we recommend you to take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for the official launch as the company didn’t reveal much about the smartphone.
