OnePlus recently launched the Ace 2 in China. The company launched its new premium smartphone as the OnePlus 11R 5G in India. The device features a flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It looks like the Ace 2 will get a new variant in the coming months. According to a new report, OnePlus is working on a MediaTek Dimensity Edition of the Ace 2 in China. The phone could arrive in India as well.
OnePlus has not officially confirmed any details about the launch of the Dimensity-powered Ace 2 at the time of writing this. However, a new report (via) has now revealed that the upcoming Ace series smartphone from OnePlus is set to launch soon.
OnePlus Ace 2 Dimensity Edition Launch Imminent
The OnePlus Ace 2 Dimensity Edition will reportedly launch as a new premium smartphone in China. The device will feature a Dimensity 9000 SoC. It is expected priced lower than the Ace 2 5G, which has a starting price of CNY 2799 (roughly Rs 34,100) for the base 12GB + 256GB storage option.
The Ace 2 Dimensity Edition will also get some changes in the display department. According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, the Ace 2 Dimensity Edition will have the model number PHP110. It will have the same display size as the Ace 2. This means that the Dimensity Edition of the phone will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. However, unlike the 11R 5G, the Ace 2 Dimensity Edition will feature a flat display. The resolution will remain the same at 2772 × 1240 pixels. We can also expect the phone to feature 120Hz refresh rate support.
The phone is also said to pack a 5000mAh battery. It will offer 100W fast charging support. The device might feature a 64MP triple rear camera setup. It will come with an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide camera sensor and a 2MP GalaxyCore GC02M macro camera. The main 64MP camera will have an OmniVision OV64M sensor.
On paper, the Ace Dimensity Edition seems to be a lot inferior to the Ace 2 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC version. The phone could run the latest Android 13 OS with a layer of ColorOS 13 in China.
In comparison, the Ace 2 5G has a 6.7-inch OLED display with curved edges and a hole-punch cutout. There is a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. The Ace 2 5G also has a triple-camera setup on the back but with a 50MP Sony IMX890 OIS main camera that is also found in the OnePlus 11.
