First OnePlus Foldable Smartphone Could Be Identical to Oppo Find N

OnePlus has been consistently pushing its flagship smartphones in India every year. This year, the firm is trying to compete in the premium smartphone segment with its new-launched OnePlus 10. However, the Chinese tech firm may soon be competing in the foldable smartphone segment as well. There’s no confirmation from the company itself but a tipster seems to have some leads on the plans OnePlus has for the future regarding its first-ever foldable phone. The introduction of a foldable device will place OnePlus among the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Honor and its parent firm, Oppo.

As per a tipster named Yogesh Brar (via Pricebaba), OnePlus is already working on its first-ever foldable smartphone. Unfortunately, details are scarce on the launch date or the features of this smartphone. For now, your guess is as good as ours. However, the tipster does talk about the possible design of the OnePlus foldable phone.

OnePlus Foldable Phone May Get Oppo Find N’s Design

It has been reported that OnePlus could borrow the same design, which is currently flaunted by Oppo Find N – Oppo’s first foldable phone. The device never reached the Indian markets officially. So, we are hoping that OnePlus may launch a similar device to tap into one of its biggest markets – India. For now, the foldable smartphone industry in India is dominated majorly by Samsung. The firm has already launched a few foldables in the country in the form of the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. We also have Motorola in the race with its rather limited Moto Razr series.

OnePlus developing a foldable smartphone shouldn’t come as a surprise for fans. That’s because the parent firm, Oppo, has already launched its Find N foldable handsets and sister brand Vivo is also gearing up to launch its first foldable next week in China. Oppo has also announced a tighter integration with OnePlus, hinting that both will be sharing some software and hardware resources in future. Other sister brands Realme and iQoo are also rumoured to be working on foldables.

OnePlus Foldable Phone And Android 12L Integration

Supporting the rumour is a report from February indicating that OnePlus could launch its tablet called OnePlus Pad, running on Android 12L. For those unaware, Google’s Android 12L is a version of Android 12 specially made for tablets and foldable devices. If OnePlus is already working on a tablet with Android 12L, it will be easy for the firm to integrate the OS on its rumoured foldable smartphone. With Android 12L you get an expanded notification tray, an updated user interface making better use of the large screen, enhancements in multitasking capabilities and more.
