OnePlus Leading Mid to Premium Smartphone Segment in India as 10R and 10 Pro Play Key Roles, Reveals MSP Report

2022 has been an excellent year for OnePlus in India, and the company is already looking forward to a successful second half with the OnePlus 10T launch scheduled for this week. This year there have been a host of OnePlus launches in India already across different price categories starting at as low as Rs 19,999 for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G and going up to Rs 66,999 for the flagship OnePlus 10 Pro. The company has tried to cater to all types of customers in India this year.

Key findings from the MSP Smartphone Consumer Report and user searches on our website seem to indicate that the effort has paid off. OnePlus has outperformed its rivals from the mid to premium smartphone segment.

The MSP Smartphone Consumer Report data that had over 10,000 respondents shows that OnePlus had the highest ownership share in the Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 price range, with 28.5% of people owning a OnePlus device in this segment. Samsung and Vivo were the next top brands to have highest ownership in this category. Oppo and Xiaomi also managed to make the cut into the top five smartphone brands, as per MSP Smartphone Consumer Report data.

OnePlus 10R: A Clear Winner for the Brand

OnePlus 10R, the sub-Rs 40,000 smartphone from the house of OnePlus, has turned out to be a dark horse for the brand. Based on the impressions on MySmartPrice from April to June 2022, the OnePlus 10R was the most popular smartphone in the Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 category on our website as it recorded the highest impressions for the price segment. On the other hand, the Vivo V23 Pro 5G and Realme GT Neo 3 5G were among the other top smartphones with the highest impressions on our website.

When asked about the OnePlus 10R experience, one of the respondents said, “I use the OnePlus 10R mobile. I am extremely satisfied with this brand. I am especially attracted by its charging speed and photo quality. This mobile also provides a good processor. It gives us all the latest features.”

It’s no surprise that the OnePlus 10R is a popular choice in its price segment, all thanks to features galore like up to 150W fast-charging support, Dimensity 8100-MAX SoC, 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera sensor, and 120Hz AMOLED display. The OnePlus 10R and Realme GT Neo 3 are mainly similar devices differentiated by design and UI. OnePlus Is Dominating the Mid to Premium Smartphone Space in India

Another key findings from the survey and impressions on our website revealed that OnePlus smartphones feature in the list of top three phones for each price range including Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000, Rs 40,000 – Rs 50,000 and over Rs 50,000.

While the 10R ruled the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 segment, the OnePlus 9RT made sure that it gave its rivals a tough fight in the Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 price segment. The OnePlus 9RT is the third most popular smartphone in this category, closely following the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G and Realme GT 2 Pro 5G.

Coming to the flagship segment, the MySmartPrice survey further shows that the OnePlus 10 Pro is the second most popular smartphone in the Rs 50,000 and above category. Xiaomi 12 Pro came as the most popular smartphone choice in our survey, while Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was the third most popular device in the same category.

After Apple, OnePlus Has the Highest Brand Loyalty Among Users

Apple and OnePlus came out as the best brands whose customers showed the highest sense of brand loyalty, with a retention rate of 80.5% and 61.5%, respectively.

While it’s important to note that Apple is mostly in the premium segment and has dominated the space for a good time. It’s OnePlus that has been a rockstar for the Android ecosystem as the company has a presence in the Indian smartphone market starting at Rs 19,999 and going up all the way to Rs 66,999.

Another user participating in the MySmartPrice survey, when asked about the user experience on a OnePlus device, said, “I’ve used multiple OnePlus phones, and now I’m using the Nord CE 5G. It is a stable phone and helps me do whatever I want, be it light gaming or daily work. I’d recommend this to other users just because of the Snapdragon 750G processor it packs up with and creates a better package than the rest of the mobiles out there.”

OnePlus Has An Excellent Satisfaction Rate Among Users

OnePlus phones also outshined the competition in terms of satisfaction with the available features on-device. In our key findings, we measured smartphone brands in different categories – charging speed, display quality, smartphone speed, rear camera, front camera, and battery life.


In terms of charging speed and display quality, OnePlus phones scored over 80% in terms of satisfaction rate when compared to brands like Apple, Poco, and Realme. In terms of display quality, OnePlus even trumped Apple in satisfaction rate for respondents who participated in MSP Smartphone Consumer Report.

Even in smartphone speed, respondents in MySmartPrice Survey rated OnePlus at 80.70% marginally behind Apple at 81% while Poco, Realme, and Motorola were among top five brands.


Additionally, OnePlus was rated above 75% by respondents who said they were satisfied with the rear and front camera quality of OnePlus phones.

The OnePlus 10 Pro launched earlier this year came with Hasselblad camera branding and it turned out to be an excellent smartphone camera choice in our review.

Lastly, in battery life, OnePlus was rated as the third best brand after Infinix and Poco in terms of satisfaction with the feature. While Vivo and Realme were other among top five brands, as per MSP Smartphone Consumer Report.

The second half of the year is already looking very competitive with a host of launches scheduled. OnePlus would want to continue its run through the year and the OnePlus 10T could just be the perfect device for the company.
