OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord lineup back in 2020 to cater to Rs. 20,000-35,000 segment. Now, a report by 91mobiles in collaboration with Yogesh Brar claims that the company is planning to set its foot in under Rs 20,000 segment with an upcoming Nord series handset in the Indian market. As of now, the OnePlus Nord CE is the company’s cheapest handset which starts at Rs 22,999. The report further reveals that the company will take the final call on the upcoming budget handset sometime in Q2 2022.
OnePlus Nord Budget Handset will offer a 90Hz AMOLED Display and a 50MP Camera!
The upcoming budget handset under the Nord series will retail 90Hz AMOLED goodness. Apart from it, the OnePlus will include a high-resolution 50MP sensor as the primary shooter on the device. Also, the upcoming budget Nord series device might be powered by a MediaTek chipset with 5G connectivity. This means the handset will pack a MediaTek Dimensity processor under the hood.
91mobiles report further claims that the handset is in the early stage of development and so they couldn’t get more details in terms of specifications. Yogesh reveals that this budget OnePlus handset will launch after the OnePlus Nord 3, in case OnePlus decides to go ahead with the plan of a budget phone. Hence, we shouldn’t expect the handset to go official before July 2022.
In case OnePlus decides to go ahead with its plans, this would be the third Nord series handset to launch in India in 2022. OnePlus already has budget handsets such as Nord N100 and Nord 200 5G under the Nord lineup, but the company decided not to release those in India.
To those unaware, the company is said to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 CE sometime next month in the Indian market. The Nord 2 CE is said to offer a 6.4-inch 90Hz AMOLED display and a 64MP triple-rear camera setup. The Nord 2 CE will make use of a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor and will be equipped with a 4,500mAh battery. It will also support 65W fast charging.
