OnePlus’ first-generation foldable OnePlus Open went official last month. It has so far impressed tech critics and fans alike, thanks to its flagship hardware and premium software experience. One of its unique software features is Open Canvas which takes the multitasking experience to the next level. It allows users to do more without making everything look crammed on the display. And now, the team is ready to bring this special feature to the OnePlus Pad.

Open Canvas Under Development for the OnePlus Pad

OnePlus recently held a Reddit AMA where it invited anyone to ask anything about the foldable. It was during this session that OnePlus confirmed it is working on bringing Open Canvas to the OnePlus Pad. The post was first spotted by an X user @1NormalUsername who is known for sharing information related to the company.

The post mentioned they have received several requests from fans about the feature. Here is what the team said, “We’ve gotten several requests to add the stunningly intuitive Open Canvas to the OnePlus Pad, and good news – we’re working on it! Keep your eyes peeled.”

Open Canvas is currently a OnePlus Open exclusive feature that elevates the multitasking experience. It allows users to run up to three apps in a split-screen mode that goes beyond the display. It means instead of squeezing everything into a single display space, it lets users move from one app to another with a simple tap. These apps can be used in either full-screen or compact mode. Here is a picture representation of the feature that should help you understand it better.

The OnePlus Open has a 7.82-inch internal display on which the Open Canvas feature works. Since the OnePlus Pad has an even bigger 11.61-inch display, it makes sense for the company to expand the feature to the tablet. It will improve productivity for users with the tablet even more. The team has not shared a release timeline but we will keep you posted.
