
OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open. A couple of days back, the renders of the device were leaked. The renders revealed that the handset will be featuring a triple-camera setup, an alert slider on the left edge, and a punch-hole cutout for the inner display. Now, in a recent development, the launch date of the OnePlus Open is revealed courtesy of Smartprix.
OnePlus Open Expected To Debut Next Month
According to information shared by tipster Arvind with Smartprix, OnePlus plans to launch the OnePlus Open on August 29 at an event In New York. Additionally, tipster Max Jambor has backed up these details. To recall, the name of the OnePlus first foldable smartphone was also revealed by Max Jambor a few days back. The Chinese smartphone maker obtained the patent for the OnePlus Open trademark this year in May. Apart from OnePlus Open, the brand also obtained trademarks such as Prime, Wing, Peak, and Edge, for its foldable lineup. However, the company has chosen to go with the OnePlus Open.

As far as the specifications of the device go, it is tipped to feature a 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display on the inner side with a 2K resolution. The inner display is expected to offer 120Hz. The outer display on the handset will be 6.3 inches. It’s also supposed to be an AMOLED panel which could also offer a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is tipped to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The smartphone might pack up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The whole package is likely to draw power from a 4,800mAh battery, which is expected to support 67W fast charging. As for the optics purpose, the device is said to feature a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP telephoto sensor. The smartphone is supposed to feature a 32MP camera on the outer display, whereas the inner screen might include a 20MP sensor which is expected to be accommodated in a punch-hole cutout. Last but not least, the device is also supposed to feature an alert slider and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
