OnePlus appears to be gearing up for the upcoming year already. A little while ago, we got the first unofficial renders of the OnePlus 8 Lite smartphone. Now, the company has started making things official and it has all got started with an event invite the company has started sending out for a “special event” which will be held during the CES 2020. What would we get to see during the OnePlus special event? Well, it is a wild guess as of now, but the rumors mill is expecting to see the OnePlus 8 Lite and the OnePlus TV (for the US) get launched during the event.

As seen in the event invite poster, the OnePlus special event will start on January 7, 2020, and will end on January 10, 2020. It is not too difficult to tell that the company would be having some devices in its mind to launch/unveil during the event. Other than the event schedule, the image does not tell us anything about it and what the purpose of the OnePlus special event could be is anyone’s guess as of now.
But, as said, we could very well get to see the OnePlus 8 Lite and/or the OnePlus TV launch in the US. The OnePlus TV has so far been launched in India and is yet to get global. Furthermore, the source mentions that the person who has shared the invite link with them is a mobile and 5G analyst, so the event could be related to a OnePlus 5G device of sorts. Once again, nothing can be said for sure as of now.
Speaking of the OnePlus 8 Lite smartphone, we got the first look at the unofficial renders of the device a little while ago which gave us a clue as to how the device is going to look like.
As per the leaked renders, the OnePlus 8 Lite will sport a centrally-aligned single punch-hole camera setup, much like the one found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. Unlike the last year’s devices of the OnePlus series of smartphones, the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a flat display and we won’t be getting those curved edges we have got used to seeing in the OnePlus devices lately. This is partly due to the fact that the OnePlus 8 Lite is reportedly going to be more of a mid-range smartphone, even by OnePlus’s standards.
At the back, the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a rectangular camera module that will house 2 cameras, an LED flash, and a few sensors. There are chances of the device featuring an in-display fingerprint scanner as we fail to locate a rear-mounted unit. The renders also confirm that we will get a USB Type-C charging port at the bottom. That said, we would miss out on a 3.5mm headphone jack with the OnePlus 8 Lite which would be bad news for some.
