OPPO recently launched a new A-series smartphone in India, dubbed the A5s. According to a new report from 91Mobiles, the Chinese smartphone maker is set to expand its A-series lineup in India once again with another new budget smartphone. Citing retail chain sources, the report claims the OPPO A1k will be arriving in India soon.
OPPO A1k Tipped to be Priced Under INR 10,000 in India
The report suggests the OPPO A1k will be priced well within the INR 10,000 mark in India. Since it is an entry-level smartphone, there is a good chance that the A1k will be priced around INR 8,000. The smartphone will primarily be targeted at consumers looking to purchase their first entry-level smartphone. Unfortunately, no specific launch timeframe has been confirmed yet. Apart from India, the OPPO A1k is expected to be launched in neighboring Nepal as well very soon.
OPPO A1k Specifications
The OPPO A1k leaked poster reveals the handset will have a waterdrop screen similar to the OPPO A5s. However, the exact size of the display panel has not been confirmed yet. Moving on to the rear, we can see that the A1k will have a single rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash. No fingerprint sensor is visible at the rear, which means the A1k will only have face unlocking for user authentication. Under the hood, OPPO A1k will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The chipset will be paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory. While quite a few smartphone makers have already released phones with a MediaTek Helio P22 inside, the A1k will be OPPO’s first smartphone to run on the 12nm chipset.
Perhaps the main highlight of the OPPO A1k will be its large 4000mAh capacity battery. Most entry-level smartphones are not very impressive in terms of battery life, so the A1k’s large battery may help make it popular among buyers. On the software front, the OPPO A1k will be running on the Android 9.0 Pie-based ColorOS 6.0. As we reported a few weeks back, the device will measure 154.4 x 77.4 x 8.4mm in terms of physical size. The OPPO A1k had been spotted on Thailand’s NBTC certification site last month, although the listing did not reveal any key information regarding the smartphone’s hardware.
