Oppo A55s With Snapdragon 480, 90Hz Display Launched: Price, Specifications

A week ago, Oppo A55s renders leaked ahead of its launch, and it was spotted on Geekbench, Bluetooth SIG and FCC database. The leaked renders revealed the dual-camera setup on the back of the phone, and the listing on Geekbench revealed its model number CPH2309, along with some details like 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 480 5G SoC from Qualcomm and Android 11. The phone has been officially launched in Japan, and it is expected to arrive in other markets in South Asia soon. It is a 5G phone and the latest offering from Oppo in Japan in a while. However, the phone will go for sale starting next week.

Oppo A55s Specifications

The Oppo A55s features a 6.5-inch full HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. However, there is a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

In terms of camera, the Oppo A55s sports a dual-camera setup on the back where there is a primary 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a LED flash. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the front for video calls and selfies. The camera app offers various modes like Ultra Night Mode, Portrait Mode and AI Scene Enhancement.

For the first time, Oppo has provided some sort of dust and water protection on an A-series phone as the Oppo A55s seems to have an IP rating, but we’re not aware of the exact rating criteria yet. Some sources say it’s IPX8/IP6X. The phone runs Android 11 out of the box with Oppo’s own ColorOS 11 skin on top. The phone packs a 4000mAh battery with support for up to 18W fast charging. In terms of connectivity options, the Oppo A55s offers Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, 4G with VoLTE and, of course, 5G. The phone also provides a USB-C port for charging and data transfer alongside a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Oppo A55s Price

Oppo A55s is priced at JPY 33,800 which roughly translates to around Rs 22,000. The phone will be going for sale in Japan starting November 26 but pre-registration for the sale start from today itself. The phone is available in two colour variants- Green and Black. The phone could launch in other markets in South Asia, but Oppo has not made any announcements yet regarding the launch of the device outside Japan. However, we expect that the phone may launch in India, with aggressive pricing.
