Following a slew of leaks and appearances on leak channels, the Oppo A7 has finally made an entry in its full glory. The phone has officially gone on sale in China, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The Oppo A7 has recently debuted in Nepal and is poised to launch in other regions too. We now have the complete specs sheet of the device revealing that the latest Oppo phone is actually a re-branded version of the Realme 2. For those unaware, Realme is also a sub-brand of Oppo.
Oppo A7 Gets Realme 2 Features Snapdragon 450 SoC
Just like the Realme 2, the Oppo A7 also has a waterdrop notch and is powered by a Snapdragon 450 processor. The phone in all its honestly is just a renamed version of the Realme 2, with a few exceptions concerning selfie camera and notch design. Unlike the Realme 2, the Oppo A7 comes with a 16MP selfie snapper on the front and a waterdrop notch instead of a classic notch that we have seen on the Realme 2. Other than these two, the rest of the specs on the Oppo A7 are identical to the Reame 2.
The Oppo A7 features a 6.2-inch FullView 2.5D curved glass display with 1520×720 pixels resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powering the A7 is a Snapdragon 450 chipset with with Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage on the phone can be further increased up to 256GB via microSD card. In the imaging department, we get a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera setup with LED flash, and a 16MP selfie camera on the front. There are a several AI-assisted features for the front camera including AI Beautification 2.0, HDR and bokeh mode. There is a fingerprint scanner at the rear panel and also Face Unlock feature.
On the software side, the Oppo A7 runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out-of-the-box. Connectivity options on the phone include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi , Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and USB OTG. A 4230mAh battery completes the package. The phone measures 155.9×75.4×8.1mm and weighs 168 grams.
Oppo A7 Pricing, Will It Be Launched in India Too?
In Nepal, Oppo has launched the phone at 35,790 Nepali Rupees (approx. INR 22,000). The company is yet to announce whether it will be bringing this device to Indian shores or not.
Well, we think that Oppo may not bring this device to India as its specifications are way too similar to the already existing Realme 2 smartphone. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of the Realme 2 is priced at INR 10,990. The only upper hand that the Oppo A7 has over the Realme 2 is its front camera, which is superior at 16MP. Other than this, we don’t think anyone would be interested in getting the Oppo A7 when they already have an alternative on the market.
Besides, Realme is Oppo’s sub-brand and we see no point for the company to launch a rival device for its popular smartphone. The Realme 2 has already been accoladed for its specs and pricing in India and if Oppo launches the A7, it may get blown in some way. If Oppo ultimately decides to launch the A7 in India, then it will have to tread carefully on the price plank.
