Oppo A7 Now Available on Sale on Amazon with Flat 5% Discount Offer Using HDFC Bank Cards

The high price of Oppo A7 and middling specifications are overshadowed by the power and value offered by Realme 2 Pro and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Oppo A7 With 6.2-Inch Water-drop Screen, 4GB+64GB Memory Goes on First Sale in China- Price, Features

If you’re the kind that is taken in easily by marketing and advertisements, this might interest you. Oppo’s latest selfie-centric phone, Oppo A7 is now available on sale on Amazon India. The device is the Chinese smartphone maker’s latest refresh of its well-marketed selfie series of mid-range smartphones. Backed largely by average specifications, the phone is marketed at the young audience with a penchant for snapping selfies.

The phone is now being sold on Amazon India for a 5 percent discount; that is, if you happen to own an HDFC Bank credit card. This brings the effective price down by INR 2,000 to INR 16,990 from the sticker price of INR 18,990. First-party EMI schemes are offered on HDFC Bank debit cards. The offers are valid even if you go for the exchange scheme, which offers up to INR 14,800 off on the price of the Oppo A7. Click here to know more about the offer and purchase the phone.

Oppo A7 Sale: Aesthetics and Selfies Over Hardware Specifications

While the INR 14,800 exchange offer might seem too good to be true, that is practically the case because the offer is applicable on something incredibly expensive such as the Apple iPhone 8 Plus. To give you a perspective exchanging something like the (much better specced) Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will give you INR 4,160 off on the price of the Oppo A7.

The Oppo A7 is the sort of smartphone that is targeted at people who care more about selfies and the aesthetics of their phone than raw performance and features. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip powering the device isn’t all that great considering the price of the phone, but Oppo tries to make up for it with a 16-megapixel selfie camera and all the snazzy selfie and beautification modes.

The Oppo A7 is also more concerned with looking good than putting up a strong performance. The ‘Waterdrop Screen’ features a smaller, narrower notch and the bezel-les design gives the phone an impressive 88 percent screen-to-body ratio. The aesthetics are further enhanced by exotic colors and the use of 3D heat-curved glass sheet along with textured patterns to create an off-beat look.

Oppo A7 Sale: Good Battery Life and Other Premium Features

On the bright side, the battery is pretty large with a capacity of 4230mAh. This should give the phone a decent amount of endurance and should be good to last an entire day for most users, provided Oppo has done a fair enough job of optimising the latest ColoOS 5.2 operating system. Sadly, that’s based on the older Android 8.1 Oreo flavour and not the latest Android 9.0 Pie.

The phone also comes with other invisible but premium features such as an anti-reflective coating on the IPS LCD display, which is claimed to increase overall screen brightness by 35 percent. The magnesium alloy frame should also be sturdier and enable the phone to dissipate heat faster during intense gaming sessions. However, don’t expect smoothest framerates in demanding games since the phone is running a relatively lower end Snapdragon 450 chipset.

Oppo A7 Sale: Realme 2 Pro and Nokia 6.1 Plus are Great Alternatives

Even if you are in the market for a phone around this price, there are a few other great choices that you can also consider. The Realme 2 Pro, for example, has quite similar aesthetics as the Oppo A7 with its dewdrop notch, 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a similarly specced 16-megapixel front facing camera as well. However, it bests the Oppo A7 with a higher resolution Full HD+ display and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE Processor.

The only problem is that the Realme 2 Pro is rather hard to find in stock. The Nokia 6.1 Plus with a better Snapdragon 636 SoC, Full HD+ IPS LCD display, 16-megapixel front camera, and a lower price tag of INR 15,999 is also a good alternative. It might not be as well specced as the Realme 2 Pro, but it is definitely better equipped than the Oppo A7 and comes with Nokia’s great Android One implementation along with lightning quick software updates.
