OPPO initially focused on its more expensive smartphones to feature a higher screen-to-body by reducing the size of the display notch. This ranges from the attractive F9 Pro to the futuristic Find X (review). However, things are looking good for the more affordable devices from the company as the OPPO A7 also looks to follow in the same design footsteps as its more expensive cousins. The smartphone’s launch is expected to take place on November 22, so let us check out other details of the upcoming device.

OPPO A7 Could Be a Repackaged Realme 2

According to the info from various reports and leaks, the OPPO A7 features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen. The resolution of the device is 1520 x 720 pixels, resulting in an aspect ratio of 19:9. Its design is very similar to models previously launched by OPPO. A teardrop notch exists at the top to maximize screen-to-body ratio, while there is a chin bezel too. However, the chin bezel looks noticeably bigger than the rest of the devices from the manufacturer.

Most OEMs opt to leave a chin bezel as it is costly to manufacturer a device whose display bends inwards to minimize the chin as much as possible. In terms of performance, the OPPO A7 will rely on the Snapdragon 450, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory for the base model. The top-tier version features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. All models can have their storage expanded via microSD card slot.

There is also a 13MP+2MP dual-camera at the back, followed by a single 16MP front shooter. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, a large 4230mAh battery that charges via microUSB port and a 3.5mm audio jack. If we were to compare these specifications with the Realme 2, the only difference you’d find is in the front camera. The Realme 2 features an 8MP camera instead of the 16MP solution present on the OPPO A7. As a conclusion, the A7 might be a repackaged Realme 2 when it launches in China.

Since the Realme brand was created to sell affordable devices in high volume, India was the ideal place to make this plan successful. With the OPPO A7 getting unveiled in China, the brand recognition of the company is much higher there. This can result in greater sales.

OPPO A7 Available Colors

The OPPO A7 is expected to arrive in the Glaring Gold and Glaze Blue color options. The expected price of the A7 in India is INR 11,999, and if there is a launch in the country, you’ll get to know about it very soon. So far, OPPO has stayed quiet about this on its social media pages, so it will mean we’ll have to be a little patient for now.

Oppo A7 Price

However, with the Realme 2 providing the same hardware and starting at INR 9,499, we don’t believe the A7 will be launched in India. If by chance OPPO to sell it here, it will need to stick to a competitive pricing strategy. Just like in China, the Indian market is highly competitive, with Xiaomi taking the top spot with its premium and affordable smartphones. Let us wait and see if OPPO can make some magic happen.
