OPPO might launch a new A-series smartphone soon in India. The company’s A-series includes multiple budget and mid-range smartphones. The upcoming OPPO smartphone that could soon debut under the A-series is the OPPO A78 5G. As the name suggests, the phone will be a 5G smartphone offering for the Indian market. The device will launch as a successor to the OPPO A77 and the OPPO A77s in India.
Ahead of the official confirmation, some key details about the upcoming OPPO smartphone have leaked online. A new leak by Appuals claims that the OPPO A78 5G will launch in India in January. The report has also revealed the launch date, specifications and pricing details of the phone.
OPPO A78 5G: India Launch Timeline, Leaked Specifications and Pricing
The OPPO A78 5G will be launched as a new 5G smartphone in India. The company is said to be priced under Rs 20,000 in India. The Appuals report claims that the A78 5G will have a price tag of around 19,000 in India for the base model. The report claims that the phone has the model number CPH2495. An alleged screenshot of the phone’s About section reveals that it will launch with 8GB of RAM at least. The phone will also offer 4GB of virtual RAM support, which will be used from the 128GB internal storage.
Citing tipster Sudhanshu, the report also reveals that the phone has a Dimensity 700 SoC. The SoC is an entry-level 5G SoC, which has been used in several smartphones in India over the past year. It is a 7nm SoC and will be paired with a Mali G57 GPU.
The A78 5G will pack a beefy 5000mAh battery. The phone will also run on the latest Android 13 out of the box. OPPO’s smartphone will have a layer of its custom ColorOS 13 skin on top of Android.
The report also revealed that the phone will sport a 6.6-inch display. It would not be a surprise if the A78 5G comes with an IPS LCD. The screen could also offer a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It will come with a dual-camera setup on the back. There will be a 50MP primary camera sensor and a 2MP secondary lens. The phone’s front camera will house an 8MP front camera.
There will be support for 33W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. OPPO is yet to confirm the launch details officially. The report stated that the A78 5G will launch in India on January 14.
