OPPO A98 5G Listed in Malayasia’s SIRIM Certification Ahead of Official Launch

OPPO recently launched the OPPO Find X6 series in China along with OPPO Pad 2. The vanilla OPPO Find X6 and OPPO Pad 2 are said to launch globally soon. In a recent development, OPPO Pad 2 visited Malaysia’s SIRIM certification hinting about the global launch. OPPO is also gearing up to launch another smartphone in China and globally. A few days ago, the OPPO A98 5G smartphone was listed in China’s CQC and TDRA certification. Previously, the smartphone was listed on other certification websites, and tipster Evan Blass revealed renders of A98 5G. Ahead of the official announcement, the smartphone has visited Malaysia’s SIRIM certification hinting that the global launch is nearing.

What do We know About OPPO A98 5G?

OPPO’s upcoming smartphone is the successor to the OPPO A97 smartphone launched in China. Rumours around the device suggest that the global launch would be after the China launch. OPPO is also expected to launch the smartphone in India. The OPPO A98 5G listing in Malaysia’s SIRIM (via) reveals that it will bear the model number CPH2529. The SIRIM certification doesn’t reveal any specifications of the forthcoming device.


The CQC listing of the device revealed that the A98 5G would bring support for 67W fast charging tech. The TDRA and Thailand’s NBTC certifications confirmed the official moniker of the device. The NBTC listing also reveals the 5G connectivity of the device. The HTML5 test showed that the device would run on Android 13 out of the box. The smartphone would be running on Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.

A few months ago, the smartphone was spotted on GeekBench, revealing the device’s specifications. The listing shows that it will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G SoC built on a 6nm process. The chipset pairs with Adreno 619 GPU and a peak clock speed of 2.21GHz. The smartphone scored 687 points in single-core tests and 2066 in multi-core tests. The variant listed in GeekBench came with 8GB of RAM.

The device will also likely be available with other variants with lower and higher RAM. The TENAA certification revealed the images and specifications of the upcoming device. The listing tells us it will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The TENAA images and renders have revealed that it will house the selfie camera inside the punch-hole in the centre. The smartphone is tipped to be available with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

In the optics department, OPPO will equip the smartphone with a dual-rear camera setup. The setup would comprise a large 108MP primary sensor with PDAF. A 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture value will accompany the primary sensor. The smartphone would be backed by a large 5000 mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging tech. The punch-hole in the display would house the 16MP selfie camera.
