Last month, OPPO launched the budget-friendly A9 Android smartphone in China. The company is now set to launch a slightly upgraded variant of the OPPO A9 in its home market, dubbed A9x. Ahead of its formal debut in China next week, the OPPO A9x has been listed on the company’s online store in the country. According to the listing on the OPPO Shop website, the smartphone will be available for purchase in China starting May 20.

OPPO A9x Will Feature a 48MP Dual Camera

As you can see in the renders below, the OPPO A9x will be identical to the OPPO A9 from the outside. The only visible difference will be the Meteorite Black color option. OPPO A9, on the other hand, comes in Mica Green, Ice Jade White, and Fluorite Purple colors. In addition to Meteorite Black, the OPPO A9x will be available in Ice Jade White shade as well. As for pricing, the OPPO A9x has been listed at CNY 1,999 (INR 20,300 approx.) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant in China.

The only major difference between the OPPO A9 and A9x will be the primary sensor on the back. While the OPPO A9 has a 16MP primary rear-facing camera, the A9x is equipped with a 48MP primary sensor. This means the OPPO A9x will actually be identical in terms of hardware to the OPPO F11 that is set to go on sale in India from May 18. The 48MP sensor will use 4-in-1 pixel binning to achieve an impressive 1.6um pixel size and will be clubbed with a large f/1.7 aperture. For selfies, the A9x will have the same 16MP AI selfie camera on the front as the standard A9. Rest of the key hardware specs remain identical to the A9.

The OPPO A9x will come with a large 6.53-inch Waterdrop screen boasting Full HD+ resolution and an impressive 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. It will have MediaTek’s 12nm Helio P70 octa-core chipset running under the hood, clocked at up to 2.1 GHz. Fueling the upcoming mid-range smartphone from OPPO will be a 4020mAh capacity non-removable battery with OPPO’s VOOC 3.0 20W Flash Charge technology. As for software, the OPPO A9x will be running the manufacturer’s ColorOS 6 based on Android Pie with features such as GameBoost 2.0.
