OPPO teased the OPPO X 2021 Rollable smartphone last year. The company’s concept smartphone is unlikely to launch this year. It could instead debut into the foldable smartphone category with a clamshell-like foldable phone. According to a new leak, OPPO’s upcoming foldable smartphone will be similar to the Moto Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The tipster claims that the device will measure around 7-inches when unfolded and 2-inches when folded. Moreover, it would be targeted towards female consumers. Let’s take a look at more details on the upcoming OPPO foldable smartphone launching later this year.
OPPO to launch a new foldable smartphone like the Galaxy Z Flip
OPPO is working on launching a new foldable smartphone. The design of the upcoming foldable is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip.
A tipster on Weibo revealed some key details around the device’s dimensions and screen technology. He claims that OPPO’s foldable phone will measure 2-inches when folded and 7-inches when opened/ unfolded. It will also come with a high-refresh-rate display on the inside. The display will use Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) which results in lower power consumption. This tech is beneficial for phones with a high refresh rate display, especially for the ones with a smaller battery capacity.
Reports earlier this year suggested that OPPO could launch a new foldable phone by June 2021. It is possible that the device mentioned above could possibly be the company’s first foldable smartphone. It could also be the OPPO Slide-Phone that was unveiled as a concept late last year. The concept handset has a triple-hinge foldable design developed in partnership with leading Japanese design studio, Nendo. It is foldable into three sections, which reveals the display of the phone. The device can be unfolded with up to a 7.0-inch screen along with a slim proportion. You can click here to know more about OPPO’s slide-phone concept.
