OPPO released the K1 earlier this month in China, its first smartphone under the K-series banner. The K1 is now available for pre-order in China, while there’s no confirmation of an India release yet. It’s an exciting launch from OPPO, who has packed the K1 with powerful hardware and features. Back at the end of September, OPPO revealed a teaser for the K1 revealing an in-display fingerprint on the smartphone, which turned out to be true. It is an incredible feature considering the in-display fingerprint has so far featured only on high-end or flagship smartphone devices. A few days back we had also reported on some of the expected features on the OPPO K1, all of which we shall explore here. Let’s take a look at the top five features on the OPPO K1 that makes this affordable range smartphone all the more desirable.

Design, Display and Performance

Only a few days back, more leaked images of the OPPO K1 revealed design aspects of the smartphone. All of which is true, as the OPPO K1 features a waterdrop notch, a tall display and extremely thin bezels. The K1 consists of a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2340 pixels resolution, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of 91%. The OPPO K1 will be available in two color options – Van Gogh Blue and Mocha Red, as well as featuring the latest Gradient finish. The OPPO K1 is a 64-bit phone, and Under the hood, the OPPO K1 comes with a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor clocked up to 2.2 GHz alongside an Adreno 512 GPU.

OS and Storage Variants

The OPPO K1 comes in two memory configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64 GB, while storage could be further expanded up to 256 GB using a MicroSD card. The OPPO K1 will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out of the box. It’s understood the OPPO K1 could get an upgrade to Android 9 Pie, although the news is yet to be confirmed.

Camera and Features

As is the expectation from OPPO, the K1 includes a good, powerful camera setup. At the rear, there is a 16MP+2MP dual camera setup. It comes with features such as exposure compensation, ISO control, Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face Detection and touch-to-Focus. An image resolution of 4616×3464 pixels could be expected, while it also features Continous Shooting and HDR shooting modes. The OPPO K1 features a massive 25MP selfie shooter on the front side, with AI Portrait and AI beautification features.

In-display Fingerprint Scanner and other features

As expected, the OPPO K1 features an in-display fingerprint scanner, a feature found in high-end or flagship models from brands. Another feature on the OPPO K1 lets the smartphone be unlocked with a tap. There’s also a built-in 4nm sensor under the screen with a 3P lens combination and a Micro lens microlens. Other features include a light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass and Gyroscope. As for connectivity options, the OPPO K1 includes Wi-Fi 802.121 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and Dual 4G VoLTE.

Battery and Expected Price in India

One of the main features on the OPPO K1 is its battery. The smartphone features a sturdy, long-lasting 3600mAh capacity battery. However, the OPPO K1 does not come with fast charging support; however, the battery could last for more than a day on single charge. The OPPO K1’s release date for India is yet to be confirmed, despite being available for pre-irder in China. However, going by the OPPO K1’s China prices, the smartphone is more of an affordable model. The 4GB+64GB Model is priced at 1,599 yuan (Rs.17,100 approx) and the 6GB+64GB model comes at 1,799 yuan (Rs.19,300 approx).
