Phew. It looks like there are way too many phones with pop-up cameras in the pipeline. In was only recently that we posted articles about the Huawei P Smart Z and the Honor 20 Pro both of which feature a pop-up selfie camera. The OnePlus 7 Pro, due for release next week, will also feature a pop-up camera at the front. Needless to say, it’s about time we admit that the popup front camera is in vogue. Chinese smartphone vendor OPPO who was among the first to try out this trend of movable camera modules is likely to release another device with a pop-up camera in the next few months. If we are to believe recent rumors, this device will be known as the OPPO K3. Let’s check out what the OPPO K3 has to offer its prospective buyers. The OPPO K3, by the looks of it, will be a successor to the OPPO K1 that was launched earlier this year.

OPPO K3: Key Specifications, Features

As already highlighted in the title of this article, the OPPO K3 will feature a pop-up front camera and a notchless display. It will also feature new generation in-display fingerprint scanner which should offer an improvement in unlocking speeds. As you might be already aware, in-display readers tend to be much slower than their traditional counterparts. The display in the OPPO K1 is likely to be an AMOLED panel that measures 6.3-inches across with full HD resolution.

Powering the smartphone would be the powerful mid-range Snapdragon 710 SoC from Qualcomm. The device could be offered in 6GB and 8GB RAM options with 128GB of onboard storage. The phone will also get a microSD card slot for memory expansion. On the software side, the device will run OPPO’s own Color OS 6.0 atop an Android 9 Pie core.  The OPPO K3 will feature a large 3,700 mAh battery and will support 20-watt VOOC flash charge technology. The fast charger would be included in the box as well.

OPPO K3: Camera Specifications

The front-facing pop-up selfie camera on the OPPO K3 uses a 16-megapixel sensor while the rear camera setup on the device happens to be a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup. As you might have guessed, the 2-megapixel camera is only used to gather depth information. By the looks of it, the OPPO K3 seems to have very conservative camera hardware although the pop-up mechanism at the front does make it a rather exciting proposition. As of now, we do not have any information about an expected launch or announcement date for the OOPO K3. As far as pricing is concerned, it could be positioned close to what the OPPO K1 cost at launch. The K1 currently retails for INR 16,990 in India.
