The first premium R series smartphone from Oppo to make its way to the Indian market was the Oppo R17 Pro. It was unveiled in the country earlier this month. At the event, the Chinese phone maker surprised everyone when it announced that a standard variant of the device, the Oppo R17, would also be making its way here. However, only the Pro variant went on sale in the country. Well, the Oppo R17 is going on sale via Amazon starting today. Read ahead to know all the launch details and offers.
Oppo R17 Price in India, Launch Offers
Oppo will sell the R17 in India for INR 34,990. There is only a single storage configuration for this phone with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You will have the option to choose between to color options: Ambient Blue and Neon Purple.
When it comes to sale offers, most of those being offered are pretty much the same the ones offered when the R17 Pro launched. The first of these is an offer in collaboration with Jio. Buyers will receive up to 3.2TB of 4G data. Additionally, combined benefits up to INR 4,900 will be given to buyers courtesy of Reliance Jio and MakeMyTrip. These seem to be in the form of various coupon codes that can be availed upon recharge of an eligible value (INR 198 and INR 299).
No Cost EMI plans are also being offered for pretty much all major credits cards and select debit cards. Addition 10% discount is provided to HDFC credit or debit card EMI transactions. Furthermore, it will be able to avail up to an INR 5,000 discount by exchanging your old smartphone upon purchase. Also, you will be able to avail a one-time screen replacement offer with the purchase of an R17. Some of these are likely to be limited time offers, so you might want to hurry if you wish to avail those.
Oppo R17 Specifications
The Oppo R17 shares many of the same specifications as its Pro variant. First off, you will get a large 6.4-inch AMOLED screen on the R17, which the company fondly refers to as the ‘waterdrop’ screen. This is because the display houses a tiny waterdrop-shaped notch at the top to house the selfie camera. This screen bears a Full HD+ resolution, boasts a 91.5 percent screen to body ratio, and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. There is even a fingerprint scanner embedded underneath this screen.
The first change on the R17 compared to the R17 Pro is with the rear cameras. Instead of a triple-camera setup of the latter, you will get a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on the R17. The front, however, houses the exact same 25MP shooter for selfies.
As for the processing capabilities, the R17 comes with a Snapdragon 670 chipset which replaces the Snapdragon 710 of the Pro variant. The handset’s 3500mAh battery is charged over the included micro USB port. While this is a downgrade considering the Pro model gets USB Type C, an advantage here is that the R17 gets a 3.5mm headphone jack while the more expensive phone does not. VOOC fast charge is also found on the R17, which claims up to two hours of use with a five-minute charge.
