OPPO is busy gearing up for the launch of its first Reno series smartphones in China on April 10th. While it was first believed that the company may only release one Reno series smartphone at the event, we are now expecting to see at least three different models to be unveiled next week. Ahead of the official launch, we have spotted a trademark listing for “Shark Fin” and “3D-Lut” on the official EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) website.
OPPO Reno Will Feature a “Shark Fin” Selfie Camera
The trademark filing by OPPO seems to suggest the pop-up selfie camera will be marketed as “Shark Fin”, since the shape appears very similar to a shark fin. Apart from “Shark Fin”, the Chinese smartphone maker has also trademarked “3D-Lut”. While no details are currently available, we expect it to be some sort of a new camera feature that will be available on OPPO Reno series phones.
The high-end version of the OPPO Reno, as recent leaks have confirmed, will come equipped with triple cameras on the back. Thanks to a periscope module, the device is expected to offer 10x hybrid optical zoom technology. The smartphone’s Bluetooth SIG certification had revealed that it will have a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 8MP secondary camera, and a 13MP tertiary camera. For selfies, the flagship Reno smartphone is expected to have a 16MP snapper housed within the “Shark Fin”.
In addition to a triple-camera setup, the smartphone’s Bluetooth certification had revealed it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset and feature a 6.65-inch sized display with Full HD+ resolution. The more affordable version of the OPPO Reno is expected to have a smaller 6.4-inch Full HD+ resolution display and run on Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 710 chipset instead. At the rear, the device will have a 48MP main sensor, clubbed with a 5MP secondary sensor.
