OPPO will end 2019 by launching the Reno 3 series comprising of two phones, the Reno 3 5G and the Reno 3 Pro 5G on December 26 in China. The company has already shared all the details regarding these upcoming phones to hype its launch since these phones will be the brand’s first devices to have support for dual-mode 5G (SA and NSA). According to the teasers shared by the company, the Reno 3 will be the first phone with MediaTek Dimensity 1000L, whereas the Pro variant will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G. We already know the performance of the later chip but the former’s efficiency just came into light as the Reno 3 5G with model number PDCM00 was spotted on Geekbench.
As per the Geekbench listing, the Oppo Reno 3 5G will bear the model number PDCM00 and will run Android 10 (ColorOS 7). It will be powered by MT6885Z/CZA which is the codename for MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L chip coupled with 8GB RAM. This SoC is a slightly stripped-down version of the Dimensity 1000 chipset clocked at 2GHz. But still, it manages to score 3193 points in single-core and 9918 points in multi-core tests. For context, the Pro variant scores only 2847 and 7687 points which means the regular Reno 3 will be much powerful than the Reno 3 Pro, at least on paper.
Although the Reno 3 will be powerful, it will lack premium design which the Reno 3 Pro will incorporate with a punch-hole display and slimmer chassis. The Reno 3 on the other hand, will come with a now-ubiquitous dew-drop notch display.
