OPPO is prepping up for the launch of the Reno 5 series successor smartphones in the form of Reno 6 and the Reno 6 Pro+. Both these upcoming devices recently had received 3C certification. Additionally, yesterday, we even saw the Reno 6 Pro and the Reno 6 Pro+ smartphones at the TENAA certification authority. The TENAA listing revealed the smartphone’s specifications ahead of launch. Today, the listing was even updated with the renders of these upcoming devices. Now, in a recent development, new information about the Reno 6 is emerged out courtesy of popular tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The tipster speculates that the vanilla Reno 6 model could be powered by unannounced MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC.
OPPO Reno 6 Might Be Powered by Dimensity 900 SoC
If we go by the information revealed by Digital Chat Station, the upcoming OPPO PEQM00 will be powered by a MediaTek chipset that might have a model number as MT6877. This new chipset is believed to launch as Dimensity 900 SoC. The tipster speculates that the Reno 6 might be backed by the Dimensity 900 chipset. This upcoming SoC is believed to be manufactured using a 6nm process that might have four A78 cores. This is the initial information about the Dimensity 900 chipset revealed by the tipster.
Digital Chat Station even added in his Weibo post that the testing unit powered by the Dimensity 900 has managed to score 480,000 points in a benchmarking test. This does indicate that the Dimensity 900 will perform better than the Dimensity 820 and Snapdragon 768G chipsets that had scored 440,000 points in the benchmarking test. Furthermore, the tipster even speculates that the Reno 6 powered by the Dimensity 900 could cost around 2500 Yuan (Rs 28,515). This rumoured pricing does one way indicate that the Reno 6 could be more expensive than that of the newly announced Redmi K40 Gaming phone that currently sells for around 2,399 Yuan (Rs 27,367).
If we go by the known specs of the OPPO Reno 6 (PEQM00) from TENAA certification, the phone is rumoured to sport a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that might have an FHD+ pixels resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The device might ship with 12GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage. As far as the imaging aspect of the handset go, it is tipped to feature a 64MP primary main camera. While at the front, the Reno 6 might come equipped with a 32MP selfie shooter. The device is said to pack a 4400mAh battery that could offer 65W fast-charging support.
Now that the Reno 6 and the Reno 6 Pro+ has received the TENAA and 3C certification recently, we can expect OPPO to announce the launch date of these handsets in the upcoming days. What are your thoughts about these upcoming smartphones? Do let us know in the comments below.
