Chinese consumer electronics firm Oppo has launched the Oppo Watch Free smartwatch today. The watch comes alongside the Oppo K9 Pro 5G smartphone and has a 1.64-inch 2.5D curved AMOLED display, and supports blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring. It also has the ability to generate sleep reports and can record the user’s snoring while they sleep. The device will apparently support NFC-based payments as well, which would make it one of the few smartwatches to support payments in India, if it makes it here that is. Though one could assume that this will be subject to availability at end-points like supermarkets, coffee shops and other places.
Oppo Watch Free specs and features
As mentioned before, the Oppo Watch Free has a 1.64-inch 2.5D AMOLED display, along with support for Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Other than the heart rate, blood oxygen and sleep monitoring features, the company also claims that the device 230mAh battery will provide 14 day battery life and support for fast charging. The Oppo Watch Free will apparently provide a full day’s battery life with 5 minutes of charging.
It also has a six-axis motion sensor, an ambient light sensor and over 100 sports modes, with automatic tracking for six of them. This includes running, walking, swimming, outdoor cycling, elliptical machines and rowing machines. It will run with all devices that have Android 6.0 or above and iOS 10.0 and above.
In addition, the Oppo Watch Free is water-resistant up to 5ATM of pressure and will have a 19mm strap. It weighs 20.9 gram without the strap and 32.6 gram with the strap. Interestingly, despite all the other features, the new Oppo watch doesn’t have a GPS chip inside.
Oppo Watch Free price and availability
The Oppo Watch Free is yet to come to India, but has been launched in China at the moment. It is available in Black and Gold colours and is priced at 549 Yuan (approximately Rs. 5500). It will go on sale in China from September 30 onwards.
Oppo K9 Smart TV specs and features
Alongside the Oppo Watch Free, the Chinese firm also announced the 75-inch variant of the Oppo K9 smart TV. The device is already available in 43 inch, 55 inch and 65 inch models, which were launched in May this year. It uses a DLED display with 178 degree viewing angles, a MediaTek MT9652 chipset and 2GB of RAM with 32GB storage, and it runs on Oppo’s ColorOS TV 2.2 operating system. The device has Bluetooth connectivity and is fitted with far-field microphones.
