The Nikon Z50II is a compact mirrorless camera with a 20.9 MP CMOS APS-C size sensor. It has an advanced auto-focusing system with 9-type subject detection, the same as the flagship Nikon Z9 model. The new camera also has a Pre-Release capture function that can store images with a 1-second buffer before the shutter button is pressed.

The Nikon Z50II features a High-Speed Frame capture mode capable of shooting at 30 frames per second. The camera supports video recording up to 4K resolution, which goes up to 5.6K with oversampling. This feature is powered by the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine. It can also shoot N-Log videos with free RED LUTS offering a true cinematic video recording.

Nikon has also integrated AI-powered features like Skin Softening and Portrait Impression Balance in the Z50II camera. These modes provide professional-quality portrait images, making them suitable for uploading directly on social media.

The Nikon Z50II is also the first camera in the Z-Series to have a product review mode that can adjust its focus on objects in the background. It also has a video self-timer function with a 2-second and 10-second interval making it easier for content creators to shoot videos on the go. USB-video streaming is also supported using which the Nikon Z50II can be used as a webcam on a computer.

The auto mode has also been revamped. The EXPEED 7 engine can efficiently recognize subjects and objects and adjust flash, exposure, focus, ISO, shutter speed, and other settings quickly and capture high-quality images without any manual settings. The camera also has Bluetooth connectivity.
