According to the latest leak, Voot Kids will soon be added to JioCinema. For the uninitiated, Voot Kids is a kids-exclusive edutainment OTT platform owned by Viacom 18 Media. It’s separate from Voot or Voot Select and has a monthly subscription starting from Rs 149. Now, a Reddit user has revealed that Voot Kids will also become a part of JioCinema and will be available via JioCinema to those who have subscribed for a membership. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest developments regarding Voot Kids.
Voot Kids Joins Voot Select on JioCinema Platform
As you can see in the screenshot shared by @AdityaSrivastava2008 on r/JioCinema sub-Reddit, JioCinema will soon offer Voot Kids to subscribed users. Notably, JioCinema already offers Voot Select content to JioCinema Premium members, and now Voot Kids will also be available. Recently, Voot was also offering a JioCinema Premium subscription for free to Voot Select members.
This move confirms that the Voot and JioCinema merger is coming to a close soon. Notably, Viacom 18 Media plans to create a super app for OTT content with VOOT, VOOT Select, and Voot Kids under a single platform – JioCinema. Last month, Voot stopped accepting Voot Select memberships or renewals through Fire TV. According to the mail sent to Voot Select members, their subscription is being transferred to JioCinema Premium. Voot might take the same route with the Voot Kids subscription as well.
Users will get a special coupon to activate the JioCinema Premium subscription for however long the Voot subscription remains. After using the coupon to sign up for JioCinema Premium, users can access all Voot Select content on the JioCinema app. While the content has already moved to Jio, the exact merger date of Voot and JioCinema is still unknown.
Viacom 18, a JV of Reliance-owned Network18 and Paramount Global, owns Voot. On the other hand, JioCinema is wholly owned by Reliance Industries. JioCinema was not quite popular until recently when Viacom 18 started scaling the platform. It acquired HBO, NBC, and digital rights to IPL 2023 and streamed it for free to gain traction.
Jio Studios is also ramping up with over 100 movies, original web series, and mini-series announced exclusively for JioCinema. All of these and Voot Select and Voot Kids will be part of the JioCinema Premium, which costs Rs 999 per year. The plan gives access to all content and simultaneous streaming on four devices.
