OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Voot, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony Liv ensure to bring fresh content for its viewers each week in order to keep them engaged. And this week we have releases like Jamtara S2, Andor, Liger, Thiruchitrambalam, Hush Hush and more going live on multiple OTT platforms.
Jamtara became a popular Netflix show when it released and involved the scam call centers that exist in many places in India, and in this case, the fictitious village of Jamtara. The profession of most people of this town is to swindle people from around the world by calling them and pretending to be from call centers.
Andor is the newest show joining the Star Wars universe and has been received with enthusiasm. Liger was not the most successful film in terms of theatrical run and has hence hit OTT quite quickly. Thiruchitrambalam is the only romantic family comedy-drama in out top five list this week and had a very successful run at the box office. Hush Hush is the newest show coming to Amazon Prime Video and features actors like Juhi Chawla, Sahana Goswami, Soha Ali Khan and Kritika Kamra.

Jamtara S2 (Netflix – Hindi – September 23)
Jamtara is back for another season after it garnered a lot of attention with its first season. And this time the phishing scams are bigger, with our protagonist trio coming back to swindle more people. While the first season dealt with the decadent nature of the people of this Jharkhand town, this new season will apparently explore the human side of the characters more. We will get to see more new scams, as well as how the scammers look to have power over its victims.
Directed by Soumendra Padhi, Jamtara Season 2 brings back Sparsh Srivastava as Sunny, Anshuman Pushkar as Rocky, Monika Panwar as Gudiya, Aasif Khan as Anas Ahmed, and more. The new season will come with 10 new episodes.
Andor (Disney+ Hotstar – English – September 21)
Andor is another spin-off based on the Star Wars universe and the protagonist is the character of Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna. The events of Andor Take place five years before the events of Rogue One (2016), the series has an ensemble cast of characters that will group together to form a Rebel Alliance forming as an opposition to the Galactic Empire. Cassian Andor is one such character who is a thief turned revolutionary and eventually joins the Rebellion.
The new show has been created by Tony Gilroy and apart from Diego Luna also feature Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Joplin Sibtain, James McArdle, Rupert Vansittart, Stellan Skarsgård, and others.
Liger (Disney+ Hotstar – Telugu / Hindi – September 22)
Vijay Deverakonda may have thumped up his film Liger before its initial release in theaters on August 25, but that did not help prospects because it was panned by critics as well as audience. With over the top dialogues and a poor premise Liger was a flop at the box office and made about Rs 88 crores despite having a budget of around Rs 125 crores.
The film follows the MMA fighter Liger whose father dies in the MMA National Championship. His mother, Balamani, move to Mumbai from and promises to turn her son into a champion fighter and approaches coach named Christopher, who trains him. Liger meets the leading lady Tanya (played by Ananya Pandey) meanwhile and falls in love with her, and the rest of the film follows.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the key actors in the film are Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, and Ronit Roy. World Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson also makes an appearance in the film.
Thiruchitrambalam (SunNXT – Tamil / Telugu / Malayalam / Kannada – September 23)
Thiruchitrambalam is the most lighthearted film in the top 5 this time and it features Dhanush and Raashii Khanna in a romantic family comedy-drama setting. The extremely successful film was released in theaters on August 30 and set the box office ringing.
Dhanush is Thiruchitrambalam Jr in the movie and is a delivery driver who lives with his strict father Inspector Neelakandan and grandfather Sr. Thiruchitrambalam. His best friend Shobana is also his confidant while he only has eyes for Anusha. This is Dhanush’s first film as a producer and while he was rumoured to direct it, that did not turn out to be true.
Directed by Mithran R Jawahar, the movie stars Dhanush in the titular role along with Nithya Menen, Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashii Khanna.
Hush Hush (Amazon Prime Video – Hindi – September 22)
Hush Hush is the thriller pick of this week and brings back the likes of Juhi Chawla and Soha Ali Khan to the screen again. The show is about a scandal that blows up on television. Ishi is a person in a with powerful people behind her and is outed on national television which in turn scandalises her best friends. What follows is the unraveling of a complicated knot of relationships around costly cars, designer clothing and all things costly.
Co-directed by Tanuja Chandra, Kopal Naithani and Ashish Pandey, Hush Hush has been written by Chandra, Juhi Chaturvedi, Ashish Mehta and Shikhaa Sharma. It features Juhi Chawla, Shahana Goswami, Kritika Kamra, Soha Ali Khan, Karishma Tanna and Vibha Chibber. This is Juhi Chawla’s return to acting after he last film which was Teen Deewarein from 2003.
