We have already reported on rumors surrounding Google’s upcoming Pixel phones dubbed, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Now, thanks to Google, the two phones have been officially confirmed. Both the smartphones were spotted in the catalog of Google Play Developer Console. The names of the upcoming phones were confirmed via Android Q listing under codenames Sargo and Bonito. Google was quick to get rid of the listing, but it was too late as screenshots were already shared on forums like Reddit.

The listing spotted under Google Play Developer console reveals that the Pixel 3a features a 5.6-inch display at 1080 x 2220 pixels full HD+ resolution while the Pixel 3a XL has a 6-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels full HD+ resolution. Both the smartphones settle for 4GB of RAM capacity and ship with Android 9 Pie. The Pixel 3a is codenamed Sargo while the Pixel 3a XL has the codename, Bonito.
This is not the first time when we are learning about the upcoming Pixel lineup. Both the phones have witnessed several leaks including camera samples and image renders. Previous leaks have tipped the Pixel 3a to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor, 8MP front camera, and a 12MP rear camera. The phone may feature a 3,000mAh battery. As for the Pixel 3a XL, the leaks stated that the phone could pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. For those unaware, these Pixel phones are mid-range offerings by Google.

The latest leak about the Pixel 3a range reveals the launch timeline in the middle of 2019. We can expect Google to launch these phones at Google I/O conference slated for May 2019. Google usually brings out the fresh Pixel lineup around September of every year, but since these are mid-range phones taking after Pixel 3 lineup, the company could bring them before September 2019. Google is most likely to launch the Pixel 4 range in September this year while the Pixel 3a lineup could come out around May 2019.
Concerning the pricing, the Pixel 3 lineup currently retails at starting price of INR 71,000 while the Pixel 3 XL (review) 128GB storage variant is priced at INR 92,000. Since the Pixel 3a phones are mid-range, we can expect them to start at INR 27,000 for the Pixel 3a and around INR 30,000 to INR 35,000 for the Pixel 3a XL. Or we may also witness Google taking a high road and pricing these phones even lower to compete with the OEMs like Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Realme, Honor, and others.
