Pixel 4 Face Unlock to Get Eye Detection With Update in the Coming Months, Google Confirms

The Google Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL made their debut a few days ago. And one of the most talked-about features of these smartphones is their radar-based face unlock system. However, it was recently discovered that the face unlock option in the Pixel 4 smartphones have an issue that concerns many people. Usually, face unlock in other smartphones don’t unlock the if your eyes are closed, but Pixel 4 smartphones will unlock even with closed eyes.

Well, Google has acknowledged the issue, and according to the statement they gave to The Verge, the brand will roll out a software update that will allow users with an option that requires eyes to be open to unlock the device. This also suggests that the option to unlock the device with closed eyes will still be available. So, when are you going to get the fix? According to Google, “in the coming months.” Yes, it will take Google “Months” to roll out.

That being said, the face unlock option in the Pixel 4 smartphones can’t be tricked, even with the option to unlock the device with your eyes closed. So, lack of eye detection in the face unlock, shouldn’t stop you from buying the device. Moreover, you have other authentication options in the Pixel 4 series to unlock the device, including pin, pattern, or password.
