Move over iPhone 13 Pro, the Pixel 6 Pro looks more interesting this year

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 6 series in the next few weeks. According to reports, the search engine giant will launch the Pixel 6 series in October. Google is yet to announce the Pixel 6 series official launch date. The company has teased some of the key specifications and features of the Pixel 6 and its Pro sibling. These include an AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, a triple-camera setup on the Pro model, etc. More details of the Pixel 6 series will be announced later this year. Meanwhile, some key details of the Pixel 6 Pro have leaked ahead of Google’s official launch event.

Google Pixel 6 Pro specifications leaked

Google Pixel 6 Pro specifications have leaked after the iPhone 13 launch event. The leaked specs suggest that the Pro model will not feature Active Edge. This means that users can no longer squeeze the sides of the Google phone to activate Google Assistant. The XDA report states that users can instead double-tap the rear panel to activate the assistant. While the Pro model gets support for Battery Share reverse wireless charging, the standard Pixel 6 does not.

The report further reveals that Pixel 6 Pro’s 6.7-inch display will have a 3120 x 1440 resolution that will support a 120Hz refresh rate. This is something Google had confirmed previously. In addition to this, the report states that users can experience a 120Hz refresh rate even at 1440p resolution. The Pro model also supports variable refresh rate. When the display enters a lower power state (Always-On Display, for example), it will switch to a lower refresh rate of 10Hz or 30Hz.

The Pixel 6 series will come with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for tracking nearby objects. Google will also use Samsung’s Exynos 5123 5G modem. The Tensor-powered performance unit will be paired with a Mali-G78 GPU and come with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

In terms of camera, the triple-camera setup on the Pro model will feature a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor, a 12MP Sony IMX386 Sony sensor, and a 48MP Sony IMX586 telephoto camera with 4x zoom. For selfies, the Pixel 6 Pro has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor.

Other specifications include a 5000 mAh battery, Wi-Fi 6, an in-display fingerprint scanner, etc.
