Google’s latest mid-range phone device has created a lot of buzz on social media platforms over the past few days, and now that we have all confirmed details, including specs, features, pricing, and availability, here are the top 5 things you need to know about the newly launched Google Pixel 7a. We will check out all the specs upgrades over the Pixel 6a, price, availability, offers, and some alternatives to consider.
1. Specifications Upgrade
Compared to the last-gen device, the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a has been upgraded in most departments, including display, performance, RAM, camera, and charging. In the display department, the Pixel 7a now packs a high refresh rate screen that can go up to 90Hz. This is also the first A-series device to feature the same.
Furthermore, the big performance comes from a new Tensor chipset. The Pixel 7a is backed by the in-house Tensor G2 SoC, integrated with advanced machine learning and speech recognition, and Google’s AI for improved call quality, battery life, and photo and video quality. In addition, the phone’s RAM is bumped to 8GB from 6GB of the last gen.
Finally, in terms of cameras, the phone receives new hardware with a 64MP primary and 13MP ultra-wide angle lens compared to the dual 12.2MP and 12MP setup on the Pixel 6a. In addition, the selfie camera is also upgraded to 13MP on the new model.
As for more improvements, the Pixel 7a also gets support for wireless charging (5W), and since the device supports it, the back is now made up of Glass. In terms of security, the 7a also gets a new addition with the inclusion of face unlock. While these were some of the major changes in terms of hardware, Google is also bringing some software and camera features to the Pixel 7a. The device features such as photos unblur and long exposure mode.

2. Primary Camera Gets a Major Refresh
One of Pixel’s USPs has been its camera over the past few years. And, starting with Pixel 6 series and Tensor chipset, Google has taken photography to the next level. While Google’s flagship Pixel always gets the better features and camera hardware, Google has always kept things relatively simple with the A-series. However, this year, Google has done a significant refresh.
The Pixel 7a now has a 64MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens. The phone also supports up to 8x SuperRes zoom, and there are many features like magic eraser, night sight, long exposure, real tone, guided frame, and photo unblur 一 all of which set the device apart from the rest in the segment. The 64MP sensor is also the highest megapixel count on any Pixel smartphone. The Selfie camera is also upgraded compared to the last iteration. In addition, the 7a now flaunts a 13MP sensor.
3. Price and Availability
In India, the Google Pixel 7a is priced at Rs 43,999, the same as the Pixel 6a‘s launch price. The phone will be available in three colour options 一 Charcoal (Black), Sea (Blue), and Snow (White). In terms of availability, the device is now available for purchase via Flipkart.
4. Bank Offers and Effective Price
As for the offers on the newly launched Pixel 7a, buyers can get bank offers, exchange offers, and Google products like the Pixel Buds A-series and Fitbit Inspire 2 tracker at discounted prices. In addition, Google is also offering screen damage protection. These are the following offers available for the Google Pixel 7a.
- Rs 4,000 instant discount with HDFC Bank Card
- Rs 4,000 addition off on the exchange
- Fitbit Inspire 2 for Rs 3,999
- Google Pixel Buds A-Series at Rs 3,999
- Free screen damage protection for one year
- YouTube Premium and Google One subscriptions for new users.
Buyers can only avail of bank offers or exchange bonus of Rs 4,000. Both offers cannot be combined. With this offer, the effective price of the device comes down to Rs 39,999 and even less depending on the phone you are exchanging.
5. Alternatives At This Price
While the Google Pixel 7a sounds like an exciting addition to the sub-Rs 50,000 market in India, there are other good alternatives. If you are looking for some alternatives, the OnePlus 11R (Review) is our first recommendation as it comes with a high refresh rate (120Hz), insane fast charging (100W with in-box charging), and better service support compared to what Google offers.
There is also iQOO 9T (Review) flagship phone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 120Hz refresh rate, and 120W fast charging. Lastly, there is Google’s Pixel 7 flagship phone, which brings in a larger display, better IP rating (IP68), and better cameras than the Pixel 7a.
